For my $.02 both anecdotally and from my own experiences with a Base Targa 4- putting the new V106 Cobb Tune (Stage 1 91) on a Base (I also have exhaust) feels like jumping from a Base to a GTS / Turbo 997. Going from peak boost of 11PSI in very few / limited situations to peak boost of 18PSI all over the RPM is like having an entirely new car. It just pulls everywhere all the time. Jumping from a GTS to a Stage 1 Tune will still obviously bring gains but it just won't "feel" the same as going from a Base to a GTS like pull and experience.

Newer turbo technology+direct injection+more nannies/safety systems allows for lots more boost safely nowadays. I have seen up to 43.5 on my accessport which when you remove the atmospheric pressure of 14.7 is around 28.8 lbs of boost. Quite high-but so far no issues (I am pro-tuned). I was seeing similar boost numbers on the stage 2 93 octane V102 maps as well.

It boogies-hopefully will get it to the track soon to get some trap speeds and times! Hoping for mid to high 120's in the quarter mile...

Anyone have v104 for a 991.2 C4S? I have the maps for the base, but get an error when loading onto the AP. So I’d rather go with one made for my car.

thanks in advance

Is this a liability on Cobb that they do not allow people to use older maps? Seems silly for someone to hold out on the older maps if a customer is willing/acknowledges the risks.

I think you can load older maps, but my understanding is that it needs to be from the same model eg base, S, GTS, Turbo

I think it even goes further than that. I have a C2 base and an older map from a C2 base -- they aren't identified as the same vehicles anymore. It may be that the physical vs. at-home ECU unlocking is viewed differently as mine was unlocked at home with v106. Frustrating -- it seems that, if you want more power than the stock maps, you might just have to pony up for a pro tune.

If the changes are EPA driven, there likely is more liability for them to provide them than to tick off customers. I know that they got raided by the EPA in 2016 --- these changes may be the result of a Consent Agreement (i.e., settlement) with the EPA.

Then leak the maps so we can make our own. Perhaps someone can compare and contrast the different values between older and newer maps. It needs to be one of the guys here smarter than I am, Im sure there are many.

Maybe one of the Pro Tuners can do this for us. Maybe some kind of Rennlist group buy for a generalized map that mimics the old stock maps or something. I’m not educated on what the Pro Tuners can and can’t do, but it’s an idea at least.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they were raided in 2016, their work on the 991.2 wasn't even out yet.

EPA was just a guess (especially given that Ryan reports that the stock map no longer work with Cat Bypass pipes). If that is the reason (again just a guess), usually the investigated parties have on-going monitoring and guidance from the government after the investigations/findings/consent agreements.

That just means that they wont turn off rear O2 sensors... Nothing to do with older maps. Unless all the older Maps turned that off and no one was aware?
