Exactly my sentiments and what I do.

I don't plan on installing that after market thig-a-ma-jig which keeps it off. Actually, I don't think it works on my build.

I go to sport right away and if I need to be quiet I hit the exhaust button to close the valves.

It did. Apparently it's enabled on every start in the .2... I turned it off first thing in my .1, and it's been off forevermore.
I've seen people install this in the .2 cars to keep it off forever (& enable default sport mode) with no more button pushes.

The only time I'm ever using Auto Stop Start is when cruising on very long highway runs. It gives you an extra mpg or two. Even a manual like mine. More so for PDK cars. Unobtrusive and works.

FYI- i have this in my 991.2 TTS and it does currently allow disabling of ***, but it doesn’t yet remember the selection of I/S/S+ Via the selector **** on the steering wheel.

I havent installed mine yet but my understanding is that on 991.2 it will not remember sport and sport plus from the ****, but it WILL remember ***.
I'm mostly concerned about ***.
(hows that for a sound bite?)

991.1 here.

I turn mine back on every once in a while just to see if it still works.

Hate the on / off feeling.

2014s remain in the last position. It's off in my 991/50 all the time. Sole purpose of *** is to give the manufacturer a better gas mileage for CAFE standards. You, the owner, pay more for the more durable starter and bigger battery. And when they wear out, you pay the replacement cost.

I think you're confusing Auto Start Stop with Decel Fuel Shutoff. That's a system that simply cuts the fuel injection when you release the accelerator, and restarts the fuel flow when the engine falls below a set rpm, typically around 1000. All cars have had that feature for many years and it is unaffected by the Auto Start Stop switch.

I think he is talking about the “coasting” function in the pdk when in normal mode with *** turned on: https://www.porsche.com/usa/models/9...rive/coasting/

@Bob Z. - The 991.1 button stays in the most recent mode so once it is turned off, it will not come back on until the button is used to re-activate.

@Valvefloat991 Actually he is not - after all it's @LexVan - this from Porsche:

Coasting and the auto start/stop function

Where the situation allows, the coasting function is possible. By opening the clutches, the engine is decoupled from the transmission to prevent deceleration caused by engine braking. In this way, optimum use is made of the vehicle’s momentum, allowing it to coast for longer distances. This translates into a significant fuel saving. The auto start/ stop function included as standard also reduces fuel consumption.
