In the market for a 911 and on the fence about tranny. Will not be tracking it and retired so driving will be pleasure rural driving. Not much stop and go. I've owned manual transmissions my whole life and have never regretted having them. I've read all the posts about the pros and cons of each and what they don't address is the personal enjoyment of rowing. Just wondering if any of you have gone with a PDK and regretted it? Not from a reliability or cost or performance perspective, but just enjoyment.

I rented a PDK to see what it was all about. It was fun and a blast to drive but it felt like something was missing. I went the 3 pedal and I am glad I did.
Yes the PDK is faster, but so is instant coffee.
Don't regret it one bit. Keep in mind, I live in NY with lots of stop and go, so PDK is both great and a big relief. The other part is, if I feel like shifting, I still can - just use the manual mode. You are not using your left foot, but I am OK with that. Obviously, not exactly the same, but still lots of fun.
I had a PDK prior to a manual. For my use, the PDK was boring. It is a great transmission but it was so good that I wanted to drive it harder in order to get enjoyment out of it, even shifting manually. However, I must say that it is a great transmission and I did enjoy using it and the function of it. If you have other cars, which it sounds like you do, I would get the manual. If it was your only car, PDK is best.
I, too, have had manual gear boxes all my life. I don't even mind them in stop and go traffic. I've driven several PDK transmission vehicles, from Caymans to Macans and were amazed at their performance. I can bang through gears on my wife's Macan at blinding speeds that can only be achieved with PDK. However, when I drive my manual 991.2 and manually shift through the gears, suddenly all is right with the world. No PDKs for me, thank you.
I had a PDK in my 997 C4s. I am recently back in a 991.1 C4s manual, and the sheer joy it brings is incredible. I use the vehicle as a weekend running errands and occasional Sunday morning drive car. As much as the PDK is one of the best automatic transmissions out there, the manual is so much more enjoyable (provided you do not need to do bumper to bumper commuting).
performance wise, pdk is a superior in every way over the manual, except the for the having fun part. i got a manual and dont care if my car is slower to 60 or around a race track. my car is a daily driver that's driven on the street. shifting my own gears and rev matching down shifts brings a smile to my face everyday.

I had a ‘13 Carrera S 7MT that I traded for what I thought was a fantastic deal on a ‘17 C4S PDK. I regretted it after 3 weeks and 378 miles (or whatever it was) and traded it for a ‘18 C4S 7MT. It’s a great transmission but outside of a track, turns a really fun car into a really boring car, and I don’t daily it in traffic. I much prefer to row my own gears. I now have a ‘19 CGTS 7MT. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
