Default Thoughts on deal for new 2019

There is a new 2019 911 C4S cabriolet that caught my eye. MSRP 154,600. The dealer has offered it to me at 144,600 (a $10k savings) which is a 6.5% discount, I believe. It’s on the showroom floor with 12 miles.

I was was hoping for 10% - being that the ‘20 cars (992’s) are out, and it’s December. Am I crazy to hope for such?

Alternatively, if there isn’t any more discount, should I just spring for a 992 at that price?

All thoughts appreciated.

Only u can answer that question is the built car the way you want it ...does it have most of the options u cant live with out?? Do u like the 992s better than 991.2? Also $10 k is a nice savings if the car is as u like it

You’re right on point.

$15k off an outgoing model year doesn’t seem impossible.

Yeah, it’s got everything I want. Colors are interesting (chalk paint, blue top). But it’s loaded. I might try to jockey for a bigger deal.

I have been speaking to dealers regarding remaining 2019 911S and 911T models. In my shopping (still haven't found what I want and may not) west coast dealers have been more flexible on discounts than east coast dealers. Also the larger volume dealers seem to be more willing to negotiate. That being said the the highest discounts that have been communicated over the phone have been 12% from west coast dealers and 9% for east coast dealers. These were in response to steeply discounted offers, beyond the profit point for most dealers. Just as an FYI, my sample size is only 3 Porsche Dealerships, so my experiences are very limited. One lesson that I have learned from the members of this forum is.... if it is a car that has the color and options that you want then don't hesitate. Also, I would not hesitate to negotiate a more robust discount if it is a car you really want, the only thing they can say is no and then it is your decision after that.

If you are not sure if you want a 991 or 992, then I feel you are not ready to but. They are vastly different. Only you can decide.

True. I have driven both. I’ve thought I would
wait to order a 992 this summer, but taking a shot at a finding an amazing deal on a ‘19.

Make them a lower offer since it seems like the car is perfect for you, and it a better looking car!

I’ve seen chalk in person. It’s a lot grayer than I expected. Specifically, I test drove a chalk S with a black top. Perhaps that combo made it even greater looking than an all white one.

I thought I’d be ok with chalk since it was close to white, but I crossed it off the list after my test drive.

^^Hold your ground. The '20s are here and you are helping them clear out their inventory. I'm not a huge chalk fan but a lot of guys are. Try classifieds to find some pictures.

You can Google Porsche Chalk and look at the images ( https://www.google.com/search?q=Pors...w=1920&bih=888 ) but if you can see it in person that is the best way.

Chalk is definitely unique. I believe it is flat and non metallic. How do you feel about cars that show dirt?
