Thoughts on deal for new 2019
#16
I purchased a new 2019 C4S in October at discount of 10% off MSRP. If you really want the car, offer to "buy it today" at a 10% discount.

Make sure the warranty isn’t punched. That would start the warranty clock and change your negotiating approach. What was the build date?
I bought my C4S as a brand new but “last years car” exactly as you are looking at. Minimum 10% discount.....some will tell you of 20%. Lots of variables, but there’s your range. I was close to the middle.

There is a new 2019 911 C4S cabriolet that caught my eye. MSRP 154,600. The dealer has offered it to me at 144,600 (a $10k savings) which is a 6.5% discount, I believe. It’s on the showroom floor with 12 miles.
I was was hoping for 10% - being that the ‘20 cars (992’s) are out, and it’s December. Am I crazy to hope for such?
Alternatively, if there isn’t any more discount, should I just spring for a 992 at that price?
All thoughts appreciated.

Chalk is definitely a color u have to see in person u can not gauge the color from a photo. I did not think I would like mine till I saw it in person at the dealer. Depending upon the light chalk color will change from a whitish gray to almost a middle gray in darkness

A good deal isn't always dollars and cents however, 6.5% isn't much off a left over. My dealer will give you 12.5 to 15% off any left over 2019 C2 or C4 including Targas and Cabs.

For the record, I negotiated 10% off my 2019 911.2 in Dec-2018. I would be looking for at least 15% off one now. This is the exact reason why I purchased a new 2019 last year. Another dealer had a similar 2018 leftover and thought he was offering me the world at the same 10% off. At the end of the day it’s a model year old car. You need to negotiate some more or walk away.

A good deal is getting the car you like at a price you feel happy with, not what we all think it is worth. Don't lose a car that meets your needs for a few grand.

Similar thing happened to me on Saturday
i was at the dealer and there was a '19 the
sales person started with "we can get you 10% off"
i would negotiate hard cause the 992's are already selling
go for 15% if it's not too late
as for perfect just the way you like it ...
that will be true for ANY car you end up taking home ... i.e. You will end up loving it
That's my 2 cents
Good luck!

I just purchased my 2019 991.2C4GTS last month and got about 12% off MSRP. I scoured the entire US market for a couple of months and met a lot of resistance from dealers who were reluctantly offering 5-7% off via email and phone calls. And if I had purchased one of those out of state cars, I still had to pay $1000 for transport of the car from them to me. I did not even get to 10% off until I went to the dealership some 500 miles from me where I ultimately bought my car (with cash in hand looking to do a deal that afternoon). Many dealers said they were holding firm on the pricing of their 2019 991.2 GTS’s as they were saving it for those 992 buyers who may not get an allocation soon and also that the performance metrics were very similar to a 992S. Sure, that may sound reasonable but they still have to sell cars. For what it is worth, I looked recently on Autotrader and many of the cars that I tried to make a deal on were still listed and available As I understand it, dealers are generally into the car for about 10% and there is a 2% holdback so 12% is kind of where they are at breakeven. I am sure others will tell you to ask for a bigger discount - great strategy if there is a willing seller. And perhaps there are way better negotiators out there than me who can get a bigger discount. And maybe if I held out, I could have gotten a bigger discount. OR NOT. In the end, negotiations are just that - give and take. I am happy with my purchase. Just my humble 2 cents experience.

Always room to bargain IMO. As long as you're willing to a) write that check today or b) walk, you're in the driver's seat. I've never found a car I had to have that day/week/month, but I get that "buck fever" can be a factor.
Another element to consider if you get close is to ask for the dealer to throw in ppf, tint, ceramic, etc. as a closing sweetener, or at least provide at their cost, assuming you plan to do any of those.
In the end, only you can decide if it's a good deal for you.
And one more thing.... once you've bought the car, quit doing further comparison/price shopping ... you will ALWAYS find a better deal.

I was able to secure 17% on my T new. It’s possible but it definitely has to be under the right circumstances. I was willing to accept the warranty being punched (original ordering customer bailed and couldn’t find financing) and I wanted Miami blue, MT, LWB etc etc. and I was definitely willing to walk. It just depends on if your wants/needs fall into what the majority of Porsche purchasers want. Mine did not so I got a great deal IMO.
and to reiterate...stop looking/comparing after you buy because then the your Porsche fun will be tainted with “what if”

6.5 is acceptable if you are building a new 992. On a leftover lot car that just has become an older model. I wouldn’t bother for anything less than 20%
And it’s a cab, so more like 25%

If someone thinks they are going to get a new 991.2 for that much off they will never have one.
