991 Without A Sunroof
[QUOTE=SoCal RJ;16271340]Saw a nice 2012 991 listed at a Porsche dealer. Coupe without a sunroof. Always figured if I didn’t get a Cab, I would want a sunroof.
Guys who don’t have one - wish you did?
Guys who have one - do you use it and is it a must have for you?
Probably not a deal breaker, but wanted to what see you guys thought.[/QUOTE
I have one in my 991.2 and seldom use it.

here are my thoughts
i have a 3351 for my year round car and it has a sunroof, i have never had it fully open once but most times have the roof cracked open for air flow in the cabin
when i bot my 991.2 c2s it had every option i wanted and needed except the sunroof so i decided to go for it
to be honest i do miss it but its not a huge deal EXCEPT the 991.2 has terrible wind buffeting with windows open at medium to high speeds... i am gonna install one of the kits on the car this summer to remedy that
i do find the cabin is a tad darker in the 991 vs the 335i given the smaller windows and lack of a sunroof

I actively sought after a 991.1 without a sunroof and was lucky enough to acquire one.
I absolutely hate the look of the glass roof especially on a lighter color car, I call it the "skunk stripe". The solid roof isn't great for clean looks either and the way it operates is just asking for problems long term IMO.
So personally, I love the slick top for all the reasons others stated above plus the clean lines of the roof and should I decide to keep the car long term it will definitely be one less thing to cause issues, leaks and wind noise.
To each their own of course, but with Porsche offering a coupe, cabrio AND targa version of the car I've never really understood why an open air lover would go for the coupe in the first place....

This is just a personal decision that I cannot even see why the question is asked to begin with. My Dad would never buy a vehicle with a sunroof and I am the opposite, and I actually will not buy one with a sunroof either (except for SUVs) since i like a drop top. The OP lives in SoCal so it is probably best to pass on the sunroof and go with a drop top like me.

I'm a sunroof fan. First 911 didn't have it but new one does......SOOOO much better. Nice and bright. Having said that, I can't think of anything (other than color) that would be a deal breaker with a 911.

Had to search with one that did not have a Sunroof and they are rare. My last car was a targa and I do not miss the wind in my hair or replacing seals or tracing down drain leaks. This car has not a rattle or a peep and never leaks. More importantly it has and will maintain superior structural rigidity. From an engineering perspective when you cut a hole in something it looses structural rigidity. In a sports car that is important.

I was super stoked to find my fist 911 with sunroof delete as an option. Seems like two different opinions - guys who like the sunroof open & cab/targa guys. Other people who want less weight and don't want a sunroof. Decide for yourself, neither is wrong just different.

I love the look of the glass sunroof on my GBM 991.2. I don't often open it fully but very often run it in the vent position around town and in the canyons. It enhances the sound of the engine and lets me hear the turbos spool which I love. I also really enjoy the extra light it allows in the cabin both during the day and at night. This sunroof is very well engineered. No noises at all.
