Water Pump
Add me to the list of water pump replacements in a 2017 991.2 with 22k miles. My car is heavily modified, I was surprised that my dealer dealer gave me no troubles for the warranty work

Lucky you, there may be Porsche internal instructions to replace these when failed under warranty, your mods notwithstanding, or maybe they like you!

Never any signs on the ground but when I looked up at the water pump I could see pink residue. There always seemed to be a smell of coolant as well

My '18 GTS with 8,600 miles just had the water pump replaced. Noticed drops on the garage floor. Looking under the rear of the car (front of engine) and noted the dreaded pink residue. The next day after starting the car I noticed liquid dripping from the pully area. Made an appointment with the dealer to bring it in. Yes, bad water pump. Replaced under warranty - no questions. SA claims it's the first one they've replaced. Maybe, they are a small dealership. The pump was sourced from the Porsche warehouse near Easton, PA. It had the same part number as the defective one.

Got car back, they replaced the water pump and the vac valve block, what ever that is. They did note all the after market modifications on the work order.

Bummer. I guess I should check mine. I have 22k miles on a 2018 C4. Built in June 2017.

ALL water pumps WILL fail. Just a matter of when. We should start seeing more failures with 2012.5 and 2013 cars, as they are now coming of age. But it does seem like the 991 pumps are doing better than the 996 and 997 series cars.
