I never did find a replacement for the tan plastic clip. I broke off one end on mine as well, and just put it back in. The one side was enough to hold it in place believe it or not. I'd try that and see if it stays with just one side. Since this thread everything has been working as expected.

I’ll be doing that and at least if it needs to be removed hot glue isn't permanent
Instead of hot melt glue, try UV-cure adhesive, available at most good hardware stores and anyplace that sells fly-fishing supplies. It's awesome stuff, you'll never go back to hot snot.

received yet another order of these plastic clips this time from the UK. A company called http://tme.com. https://www.tme.com/us/en-us/katalog/connectors_46/

No luck. I've spent about $50 acquiring these sockets and cables without any luck, my advice, don't break it ;-). Sadly you don't know the amount of force needed until you do one. Also remember the plastic should NEVER remove completely, the little tab should catch it, these move very little, you may think its not open but it could be and you're one step away from breaking the plastic.

I did but with my X73 suspension and the pot holed roads here when I hit those the PCM would flicker and sometimes reboot. I looked and pin 1 on the CABLE is now bent/broke from all the different ways I tried to get it to say put. New cable on the way, and hot melt glue is what I'm going to do. The UV stuff I'm not familiar with can it be removed as easily as hot glue if necessary?

It can be removed reasonably easily from most surfaces. Depends on the grade.

I have the same problem with broken FFC FPC top connector but may have finally found equivalent replacement on ebay. I just ordered 5 of the 30 pin and 5 of the 50 pin ones today.

The ebay description is as follows;

FPC/FFC Connector 0.5mm Pitch Top / Bottom Interface 4/6/8/10/12/14- 50Pin Lead

Let me go through my info and I’ll post it or I’ll send you one.
I have to dig it up again.

I contacted and ended up having Rossmann Repair Group in Austin, TX repair it.
Louis Rossman has a YouTube channel and they do almost exclusively repairs on Apple products, mostly Macbooks.
The FPC Connectors are used in a bunch of those so I thought it was a worth a shot.
I had to provide the connector.
The cost with shipping (r/t) and the repair was ~$250.

I ordered a bunch of different ones and ended up shipping 3 different ones to them.
This is the one they used.

i had same issue with PCM 3.1 and tried the ribbon cables someone listed from Amazon but they didn't work. I contacted Roman at https://acsbyroman.com/mr12volt/ and he sent me the ones that are included with the Mr12volt kit. They are a little shorter than the stock ones that go between the screen and board but they did reach and worked. I tried reaching him this week for a freind who wanted to buy a kit but he's on vacation so you might need to wait until next week.

I found the tiny clips.

Nick from NM Automative has them... for a pretty penny.
