Default Prices you paid for install of springs or coilovers

Hi All,

I just wanted to check with you all who have done suspension upgrades on their 991/992, what were the prices you paid and how long did it take? Did you take to an Indy, dealer or you did yourself? My current car is a 2014 991.1S 7spd manual with PASM.

I ask as I'm still debating on what I want to do with my car in regards to suspension, be it just springs like (TechArt) or go with full coil-over like a Billstein B16 or Ohlins, only thing that I wonder if I'm not sure I want to go the route of having to get those PASM- delete modules as what then was the point of getting the S model with PASM if I'm just going to remove that function or disable. I only question just getting progressive springs as I fear the POGO effect of aftermarket spring mated to a OEM shock.

I'm debating on cost as well as I would like to add partial exhaust or full including header/Cats. The cost of the suspension I go with will dictate most likely the exhaust I end up going with.
I was thinking of Kline (but don't want to be stuck having to only use their Header/Cats) or Soul.

Thanks in advance for your contribution

$800 - $1000 is the going rate in most parts, excluding alignment. I would highly recommend going with the full setup over just springs.

I paid $1K at a dealer. I installed TechArts; will never do it again. Go full coil overs or keep what you got..,

About 1-1300 assuming you go with coilover or HAS. The adjustments take time.

That is very cheap. Wow. Obviously they have to adjust it too. Crazy low price.

I know and was skeptical at first but they have 155 yelp reviews all 5 star. My understanding is its a few hour install so that makes sense. That price doesn't include an alignment that'll need to be done a couple hundred miles after lowering which they quoted me $140 for.

Ouch. And you have center locks and very expensive wheels, so getting the height adjusted right will be more precarious and time consuming.

I probably removed my wheels 6 times playing with the ride height until I was happy.

Some years back I ran a high performance shop. We would charge more than $400 to install springs on a Honda Civic, let alone on a $100k+ car with center locks and height adjustments...

You got a amazing deal.

my dealership just got back to me, they don't do any aftermarket part installs, unfortunately. Gotta find a very reputable shop that can do it for me here locally that can do during the weekends as well as most of the shops are only weekdays.

Front are super easy, about 30 mins per side. Rears are less fun so the majority of the time is spent there. Ride height is tricky but if a shop does a lot of these it should be very easy to set close to right on the first try.

Suspension is suspension, while I agree hes getting a super low rate on a spring install, I dont think the value of the car has anything to do with the rates charged with the services. If it takes longer due to CL wheels, other complexities required to get the same work done, that is how it should be billed.

Mine was 900 with alignment.

Edit: mine took "two" days, dropped off in the AM and was done by noon same day and sat till noon-sish next day to help settle the springs somewhat before alignment.

A shop needs to factor into the job the cost of repairing/replacing unintentional mistakes or accidents. Honda shock is $60-100, Porsche shock is $900, so on and so forth. Mistakes and accidents are just part of the business when working on cars is your living.

The first time I touched my Emergency brake electrical connector on the rear when doing my coilovers it snapped. Wasn't my fault, but it was my problem.

Hmm. interesting all, I appreciate all the replies.

Koven- YGPM

I just need to decide what I want, be it spring or full coil-over. The only thing I don't think I want is to have to delete PASM but don't want a Pogo type feeling on the OEM struts with progressive aftermarket springs..... OH, that 1st world problems and dilemma...
