Currently in the market for either HRE P101SC or BBS FI-R for my 991.2. Which forged wheel do you think would be the best given the following are important:
1) Aesthetics
2) Resale Value
3) Brand prestige
4) Use as a daily driver (approx. 8,000 km / year)
I prefer the BBS look. More of a motorsport look to me.
I think both would have similar resale value, maybe with slightly better for the HRE due to the brand prestige.
HRE I think has more brand prestige as far as being an expensive wheel. BBS has more of a motorsport heritage to me.
I think either would be fine for this purpose, but the BBS may be slightly easier to get I am guessing? The HRE especially if you had it made in a custom offset may need longer to be made or fixed if you needed a newer one.
I have never had a set of HRE's, but have had a set of BBS and the BBS were great.
Couldn't go wrong with either...both are solid made wheels that have been tried and tested under very stressed conditions. As far as concerns regarding prestige...
Prestige of a wheel? Maybe if we're talking about prestige pricing for either wheel... BBS has been around for a while, again tried and tested... HRE in similar fashion
More importantly, how often do you find yourself in a convo revolving around wheel prestige?

I'm trying to find one of the absolute highest end forged wheels for my build, and I do often meet with tuners that are very brand aware when it comes to their wheels.
From your listed criteria, might want HRE's so you can collect likes, especially if you're looking at the tuner audience. BBS will be a viable option, but branding wise, HRE probably has the edge?
Highest end forged wheels does not necessitate brand awareness

Both are equally nice IMO. I guess BBS gets the tiny edge in my mind because they do OEM? HRE is a bit more tunerish? However HRE is US made which is nice?
Most importantly what size, color, offset and car/color do you have? Both of those wheels can look just as bad as cheap wheels if you order wrong.
The FI-R in the front is a 20x9 +48, which IMO needs a 3-5mm spacer still on a 991.1 NB

I would go with the HRE. I have a set of BC Forged KL01 and they look almost identical to the FI-R, and there aren’t enough details on the wheel design. The HRE wheels, I think, completes the look that the BBS wheels fall short of. Not saying anything bad about BBs, I love their wheels and have owned 5 sets of them on various cars. But this particular wheel model, that’s how I feel about them.
Custom finishes available on the BBS FI-R too through us.
Those look fantastic, can you please PM me that finish and a quote on a set of 20" if I wanted that finish? Debating whether that would go well with sapphire blue metallic.

CL or 5lugs?
BBS are the OEM Magnesium wheels. FIRs are amazing wheels. Best value for money as the magnesium are quite pricey.
HREs R101LW which are FIRs rivals with custom finish are more expensive than BBS.
You have to realise that the resale value of Second hand high quality wheels is 50% from retail price.
Yeah, it's also the desirability on the secondary market given the same price point. If more second hand buyers are into BBS, will likely be easier to sell than HRE, or vice versa is more of the question.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice. Both companies make great wheels. I currently have HRE’s on my 991 but have owned many BBS and Forgelines.
