Maybe, let’s hope. They just did the 20K service and wonder if it is related.

Wait what? You typically get the first 1yr/10k oil change for free - then there's another service at 2years/20k miles. They really sell an "extended service contract" that covers just one single service - and it expires?

Yes, they sell it to fools with more money than brains.

Okay, well....ummmmm..... so, yesterday evening I opened the gas tank lid and tightened the cap until it clicked, popped the rear lid and tightened the oil and radiator lids. I got in the car, started it up and no fault. I drove all the way to Rehoboth from DC and no fault. Stopped at a gas station, filled it up, started it up, and no fault. Perhaps it was just the cap? We'll see. next time I go in I'll have them check the code.

Evidently not. After driving about three hours last week it came back on and is still lit. My appointment is Thursday at Porsche of Tysons so we will see. How can a car that has had its service according to schedule with 24,000 miles on it have an engine error? I hope that it is covered under warranty. I am glad my JD Powers survey is still open as my answers will be related to what happens on Thursday.

I have never had a car with an engine fault, or any fault for that matter. My kids beat the c**p out of a Honda Civic up to 130,000 miles and never an issue.

Your car should be still under warranty, though, I would think?

Not sure as I don't know off-hand what is covered and what the issue is about. It's a 2017 model delivered in November 2016.

Get it in before the 4 year anniversary of when they handed the keys to you, check your delivery date on your sale documents.

You don't want to get into added aggro over a date on top of the issue.

Pop in your vin here, Dan, and it might produce a build sheet w/ the warranty start date. (Or I am sure the dealer could tell you.)

https://vinanalytics.com/

Your car isn't 4 years old yet - I bet you have some warranty left.

I had the same issue on my 2017 991.2 after the 20k service. Ended up being a faulty sensor in my gas tank.
Apparently there are two sensors, the first time they replaced the non-faulty one and the light came back on. Second time they replaced the other sensor and the engine fault went away.
Hope that helps

Very hard to say it's a loose gas cap or a vacuum leak or anything else based on the limited info in the error message they give you. These days, the list of possible errors that could result in that "Check Engine" message could probably fill a medium-size metro area telephone book.

Good excuse to get a comprehensive OBD-II scanner with Porsche-specific support!

Wow, okay, that's a whole other thread on OBD-II scanners. I did a search and there are a lot of them! For how often it's needed (for me, once in three years), it would be great for a local club to share one.
