It's starts to come out if the blue area at about 160-ish. I wait till at least 180. It's amazing how fast the coolant comes up to temp and how slow the oil takes. And when parked, these cars drop like a rock. But at least they come up to temp again much quicker.
Thanks guys, I was only going by water temp, waiting for it get to 190 plus before going through the revs, then I suddenly noticed that oil temp gauge on the left was still very low. Now I have set the oil temp to display in the MFD so its clearer.
I dont drive particularly fast but even after 3 months the sound of the engine as it spins through the rev range is still intoxicating! So much so Ive started driving around with the sunroof tilted as it sounds even better. 😊
I get my new 3rd radiator installed next week and am excited as i understand it brings the motor temprature up more quickly. In addition to the cooling capacity this should prolong engine life by running cooler overall in s+.

Your thermostat is what brings the car up to temp. The thermostat prevents water from flowing through the radiator(s) until the car is up to temp.
I try to stay below 4000 rpm until I get up to temp. If its around 170 I will sometimes push a little harder, but not max rpm runs until fully up to temp.
Related question: Will a 991.2 come up to operating temperature faster, or slower, with Sport Mode on? Why or why not?
On my '14 981CS, you could literally hear the oil cooler fans come on as soon as you punched the Sport button. I don't hear that in the 991.2, so I was curious what ya'll thought.
In all of my cars, I've typically waited until 190F to fully romp on it. 170F, I'll start to bring up the revs some. You can also gauge by the oil pressure. When the oil is cold, the pressure will be very high at idle. As it warms up, the pressure will drop towards normal for being warm.

Lower oil temps in Sport mode. Someone will explain why.
