Detached Headliner but unable to extract from the car.
Gents I need a little assistance. My 2014 991s developed a headliner Sag a month ago and worked on removing it this weekend to send to an Upholsterer. The removal of the headliner was relatively uneventful. Thanks to the DIYs on the forum.
I can't find a way to remove the headliner out of the car. The liner is just too big to slide out of the door. It's too stiff to bend out of the doors. Has anyone done this? How did you extract them headliner from the car? Thanks in advance.

Hopefully someone knows the actual answer, but I've only got 4 dumb ideas: 1) the roof comes off, 2) the windshield comes off, 3) the rear glass comes off, 4) the seats come out
Unless there's a way to play around with the geometry and slip it out diagonally through the door then I'm thinking about the reverse order from the assembly process. In this manufacturing video the front and rear glass and the roof are clearly in place before the headliner is installed around the 24:40 mark:
That leaves 4)... would it help if one of the seats came out?

Can you get it back far enough to get the front below the steering wheel?
if the steering wheel were removed, would you have the room?

The seats are adjusted all the way back at full recline. I don't think it has to be removed. The passenger side has widest exit point in absence of the steering wheel.
I'm hoping someone can share what to do. Removing the windshield is my last option which doesn't make sense for a simple repair like this.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. But I was thinking about ways and would have brought up removing the steering wheel but someone else beat me to it.

Says the headliner needs to be rotated clockwise out the passenger side.

Ha! I was wondering if someone would pick up on that! When I Googled images that one stood out and I could not resist!
Seriously, there has to be way, to get the headliner out...if I owned a Couple I would probably be in the car now trying to get it out.

As per my dealer and upsholster, picture above is correct with the headliner folding 30%. Thanks Oliver. I was assured that they have done this several times and it won't be break. I'll work on it Saturday hopefully it as easy as my dealer describes.
Pro Tip from my upholsterer. Wrap the headliner with a bedsheet when removing as it can easily scratch everything when your wiggling it out.

OliverK is right - it has to come out the passenger side at that exact angle and in that exact orientation. I just took mine out a few days ago. You'll have to bend the area by the top left corner of the passenger door opening, just a little.

Got it out. Wrapped the headliner with a bed sheet first to avoid scratching anything inside the interior. Then looped a ratchet to bend the liner evenly. Slowly and gingerly it came out. Many thanks to all.
