Default Thoughts on these CPO 991.1

Hi, all - I've been looking to buy a CPO 991.1 with manual transmission, sports exhaust, and sports chrono and came across these two listings. The first is a 2013 C4S ($76,995) and the second is a 2015 GTS ($94,995). Both have 30-33k miles and clean carfaxes. Does anyone know anything about these vehicles or their history? Any recommendations on pricing or concerns about the mileage? Thanks for any help!

If your going to spend 94k - (negotiate on a 991.1 GTS) why not just go for a 991.2 S. I got my CPO 2017 991.2 S with (sport package) and pretty well optioned 126K original MSRP for less than 90k and 11,000 less miles than on that GTS.
So ya the GTS there is overpriced.

I agree they are overpriced but even though I have a .2 I cannot tell anyone to get one, assuming they have driven both and know what they want. Check out this thread to get an idea of pricing: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8636...eek-991-a.html

Both are very nice cars, and very different. IMO, a big piece of f this is you knowing what you want. For example, I knew I wanted an S or a GTS, 2015 or newer, and it had to be white exterior with a black interior. If you have some hard parameters, it might make your search a bit easier ... If you want a 991.1, I'm very biased towards the white GTS. It is a great car, and you get so much with the GTS package. I agree with snake eyes, it is priced a bit high for that mileage. Again, just my opinion, but I would pay up to ~$86k for the GTS. If you're paying that kind of money and don't care about the GTS, you certainly should look at some 991.2 cars.

Good luck, and let us know how things develop.

Snake eyes - thanks for your input. I guess I never figured a 2017 car could be similarly priced as a 2015. Was yours a manual transmission? When I did a nationwide search on the Porsche CPO locator site, I could not find many manual 991.2 S in this price range. Also, is there really that much room between the listed dealer price and what I should expect to pay, in general?

Thanks Bob Z - I have been combing through the HFS thread and it is helpful, but sometimes it's hard to know what people paid vs. what the listed price was. I had been looking at 991.1 S and GTS, initially because I figured they would be better priced, but if it turns out a 991.2 S manual could be had for the same price, then I need to open up my search...

991.1GTS - (I like the username) - I am been pretty open to exterior color, and I also happen to like the white in the GTS trim because of the all the black accents. Do you think there is that much wiggle room in the price to negotiate from $94K down to $86? Is there anything I should look out for if I go see this '15 GTS? Are loose/warped door panels and faulty change over valves a problem for these models?

HKthkt - the wiggle room question is hard to answer as it is so dependent on the motivation of the Seller. The dealer I bought from dropped $7k in a very respectful open negotiation, and I believe I got a fair price; $90k for my 2015 GTS with 14k miles, with a 5 year platinum warranty ($100 deductible). They were asking $97k. I live in Florida and I flew to CA to see it, and paid $1500 to have it shipped to me - so the dealer knew I was serious. IMO $86k for 30k miles seems about right, and I think the CPO is valuable. These cars are known to be bullet proof, but I just had a $3100 repair (covered by my warranty). I have read a lot about COV (change over valve issues), and haven't seen the door panel issue to be epidemic. I love my car and have had fun adding little things to it and making it mine. If I were to do it again, I would have waited for a CPO car. If you're loving the GTS, go for it, I'm sure there is a deal to be made, and keep us informed.

Cheers!

Ok - thanks for the information. That's very helpful. I have been trying to limit my search to CPO for the peace of mind. I will let you know how it goes. I really appreciate your input. Glad to hear you're enjoying your car!

Yes, I should probably start looking at 2017s such as this one. If they are priced right they are not far off from the 991.1 GTS...

I think the 991.1 is more enjoyable to drive and listen to, but also, pointing out the price similarities highlights how much better the .1's perform in resale value, which is something I wager will certainly continue. I don't think there will be one modern day 911 Carrera (read: non GT) that will perform better than the 991.1 GTS on the resale market, as it's considered the pinnacle of N/A Carreras. The 997.2 GTS also will continue to be highly sought after, with its price reflecting that.

Umm no,
Most 991.1 GTS are listed in the high 80s with less than 20k mileage.- which means they depreciate just like an S on percentage. ( can be bought for mid 80's)
And the GT cars are NA - They are the best of the 991 NA cars

the .1's dont perform nearly as good as 997.2 on resale.- look up 2012 991.1 S compare it to a 2011 997.2 S point taken... ( the 991.1S is actually worth less with same mileage - ouch)
Look up and see what 2016 991.1 S vs a 2017 991.2 S is going for - gap is about 8-9 grand more for the .2.

And I agree with you on the 997.2 GTS - because the 997 (is something special and the .2 was made in the GREAT recession so production numbers are low).

I don't miss my 991.1S pictured in my avatar at all compared to my FAR superior in every aspect and even in steering feel 991.2 S
I do however very much miss my 997.2 4S I sold... I should have kept that car... ( it was a joy to drive on the track and on the road)

My 991.2 S is just super fast... and I GREATLY appreciate the steering feel that was lacking in the 991.1S I had. (also carplay,,,,, amazing what carplay can make in my experience... and rear steering... and better suspension tuning aka soaks up bumps way better..I love it)

I appreciate the healthy discussion here, and I think we can all agree that which car any one person likes is very subjective. I did go see the cars mentioned in the original post today. I drove the GTS and I have to say it was very enjoyable. The looks, the sound, the responsiveness were all great. These really are special cars.

I haven’t had the good fortune of driving 997s or 991.2s so I cant compare. I think to make an informed decision I will have to test drive a 991.2S. My test drive today did reinforce my personal preference to get a manual transmission, at least for now...
