Default PSE, is this a must have?

I have some regret not giving PSE more consideration when I got my 991.1.

What is everyone’s opinion on PSE?

Would it be worth adding it?

I'm getting a valved exhaust put on. Via the Soul Performance route.

I don't take my car out much, so I feel like I want to maximize my experience when I do take it out.

i have it but it wasnt a must to me, because you can always add an aftermarket exhaust, plus the quad looks arguably better too

The PSE was a must as I didn't want to fool around with the aftermarket.

Mine came as part of the Sport Package option I selected when configuring the car order.

Personally, I love the look of the 2 center exhausts, it is a cleaner look to me. Opinions will vary.

I agree with @BSO, I would say if money is not an issue I would get it. I love the overall sound setup and fitment. I think Porsche have made the sound just enough that you hear the deeper exhaust note, but not overwhelmly annoying in-cabin. If you ever find yourself needing more sound, you can always get aftermarket exhaust like Sharkwerk, Soul, Akra, etc..

If I were in the market for a 911, I would definitely opt for the PSE. Porsche did a good job with this one, IMHO. I would look at aftermarket exhausts and save yourself some money. I'm pretty sure there are better options out there. As an example, many TT/TTS owners seem to like Europe and Kline. Happy hunting!

I considered it a must have when searching. But it need not limit your car options. It is easy to add after purchase. I did and I love it!

Not a must for me, but I am an old geeHEY GET OFF MY LAWN!

But seriously, it's a very individual taste. I am glad Porsche offers it, because it seems to give many so much driving pleasure. To those, more power to you. It turns out my hearing, for some reason, is phenomenal, and I am generally quite happy with the OEM engine sounds enough to not want or need any change in exhaust note. Do I appreciate it? Absolutely. I used to love it when my dad vroom-vroomed our cars going through tunnels in Alps when I was a kid growing up as an Army brat in Germany. But nowadays, I'm very happy with the standard exhaust.

I will say cosmetically the quad pipes at least to me look like they should have been the "sports" option. The two pipe version for some reason just doesn't seem to jive with the rear of the car; something about "adding sports exhaust results in two tips not four" does not make sense to my lizard brain. But again, obviously a personal preference. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Definitely a strong preference to have it for me. I'm not that keen on aftermarket exhaust on a nearly new car.

It's a very nice option in my opinion. Either way I would add a Soul exhaust to further enhance the sound. It totally transformed my car.

Default yes 100%

If you want to go the cheap route just buy the odd bits from suncoast and get an center muffler off fleabay or from a recycler. Have an indy install and the dealer program the button. Should run you 1500 to have some much enjoyable snap crackle pop. This works great to encourage left lane idiots to move over, totally worth it.

Keep in mind that the GT cars have center exit exhaust, and my GTS does as well...dual tips on each side remind me of how the domestics do it. And IMO PSE is the best way to go for a nice balance of selectable sound, especially with a pair of high flow cats (Soul were my choice):

My car came from the previous owner with a stock exhaust and I had the PSE retrofitted (the car is a 991.2). I believe that having had both exhausts on the car, the PSE is a must-have if you have the turbo variant. Couple them with Soul Performance sport cats and you don't need to look to full aftermarket systems imo.
