Default HVAC Blower motor - won't turn off (Edited - Fixed)

Went out for a little drive today with the windows down HVAC in the off position.

After a few miles the blower came on high even with the controls showing that it should be off.

The blower will not turn off even when car is off and had to pull the battery terminal to get the fan to turn off.

I did a search and came up with zip......... if anyone had this occur what is the fix.

Thanks

Not a bad repair out of warranty.

Part Replaced: 991-624-423-01 Blower Moter Control Unit - $200.98

Blower motor control unit. Mine went bad last year, random event. If you’re still under warranty you’ll save $1k.

I think it was a bad sign when I dropped my car off today for this issue and the Tech was like WTF never saw this before.

Yes, bad sign....my SA knew exactly what it was when I pulled up, shut it down, and got out of the car. He said they normally have two modules in stock at all times.

Is this what they replaced on your car?

One nice thing about living just north of Atlanta, Porsche parts are just a few hours away when they need one that is not on the shelf.

No...there is an electronic module under the passenger side dash that was replaced with my issue. About 2 hours labor and a $600 dollar part. I’m out of town at the moment so I’m going on memory. I’ll be home Wednesday, so I can look at the invoice.

Paradigm shift. Another way to look at this, is that this is a rare mode of failure, and that's why your Tech was not informed due to the low occurance rate.

AC fan control unit being replaced. On the shelf and car should be ready to be picked up in a few hours.

I'll post up the part number of what was replaced later tonight.

This happened to me. Car sat in my golf club parking lot for 4 hours with fan blowing full blast. Then took it to dealership and they pulled fuse. Replaced the control unit the next day. Been fine since. Was replaced under warranty.

Would love to get the part# as I feel like as these cars age these will be more common failures. I am assuming it's a relatively easy DIY
