Default Thumbs up to Bumper Plugs dot Com

I bought a car out of town, and they had front plates, but my state does not. As a result, I had 6 unsightly holes in the front bumper. Yes, I know 6 makes no sense, so did the dealer when talking to him....

Anyway, I called Eric at BumperPlugs.com and discussed my issue and he helped me out. I ordered the right plugs and they came quickly.

Before: Sloppy holes

During: Its a little scary drilling into your new car. The plastic is really soft and the drill bit ( I had bought a new one of the correct size) really goes fast.

After:

Overall I am really pleased. The product is first class and well made. Now it looks like these are purposeful additions not just random holes.

Is it perfect? No, but perfection means a new bumper and that is huge cost.

These are well made, reasonable cost and a perfect solution to what I wanted.

Thumbs up.

There may be six holes because four were used for the plate base and the screws for the plate and cover were long enough to go through everything.

Thanks for the info. There’s been talk of eliminating the front plate in my province and it’s good to know there’s an economical solution not requiring replacing and/or respraying the entire bumper.

Eric also does a lot of custom parts painting, emblems, etc. and I have used him, as well as many here, for years.

I have same issue - the extra two holes up top where the plate screws went right through the plate mount were an unexpected nasty surprise. Why do people / dealers do this to cars ??? If they are going to put the plate screws right through the mounting bracket into the bumper then why even bother with the mounting bracket (and the 4 holes it creates)

Glad to heat and see your good experience with the BumperPlug people. I’ll be calling them tomorrow to order mine.

Oh yeah, this is what made me mad. The previous owner didn't do it, I had checked. The dealer put on a temp tag with like 2" screws - one I didn't even need, because they delivered it to PA!

Call or email Eric, he will set you up and it will be much better......

I’m next door in OH and my CPO car came from TX where I believe they require front plates - so I’m guessing the carnage happened there. There was just a generic porsche logo/white background plastic “plate” on front of mine when I bought it. I hope they didn't drill the bumper just for that. I was prepared for the 4 holes when I bought the car since I saw the front mount. The extra 2 were the nasty surprise.

Required in Texas...especially after you get your first ticket for not having it attached. (It was in my frunk!!) 🙄

But still, there are far better solutions than drilling into the front face of the bumper. Ugh!
