Default HP numbers

Does Porsche quote HP/Tq numbers for the 991.2 Carrera S as crank or rear wheel? Seems like the car is awful fast for 420 HP crank...

Crank hp. All Porsches punch well above their weight given their power ratings.. Especially the 991.2

Would you believe that a base 991.2 pulls strong on a V8 R8 above 150mph? Or maybe a 997.2 S hangs with a C7 corvette?

Where do you think my username comes from? As a cohesive unit, the 911 does way more with less. The PDK transmission along with gearing is the main ingredient. These .2 engines still behave and pull just like an NA engine does. Stronger and stronger to redline. The tune and power delivery is amazing.

Yes, I am amazed the 991.2 turns in quarter mile times similar to cars like the AMG GTS that weigh about the same but have 100 more HP. But I think all that torque from 1700 RPM up has a lot to do with it.

Most of it has to do with :

Weight
Gearing
PDK if applicable
Torque range
Aerodynamics

I was doing some friendly pulls with an AMG GTS the other day in my 2017 Carrera. After three lights he rolled his window down and asked what tune I have. He could hardly believe it's stock except for Soul sport cats. We were neck and neck the whole time. He was not able to pull away from me at all. We did not get over 60 MPH.

I'm glad to see you dispelled the standard "torque" is everything view, which it isn't. A lot has to come together for something to be efficiently quick.

This is an old video, but shows how the .2C2S compares with stiff competition. Not a scientifically controlled race as fun was had by all. For instant gratification, fast forward to 7:30 to see results.

The AMG GTS is at least ten percent heavier. And with less weight on the rear wheels, they can't possibly launch as well.

I believe it has a lot to do with the distance between the transmission and engine. Cutting down on drive train losses which a front engine car can never replicate.
