18 way seats not a great fit - looking for craftsman for custom seat cushioning work
So my 18-way Sport Tex seats in my T are not a perfect fit for me, and I get lower back pain after 5 minutes or so in the car. It's not the seat's fault (they're awesome); it's just the way I'm built. Are there craftsmen out there who can take cushioning material out of the lumbar region of the seat and build up the shoulder area? Needless to say, I'd like it to look professional. I'm in Northern New Jersey; please let me know if you've "got a guy".

As of matter of fact, I can suggest two places!
Everlast Upholstery in Linden or Great Buffalo in Union... either will be able to help you out just fine!

I used to get lower lumbar pain with the 14 ways. There wasn't enough lower support. The 18 ways are awesome...now I'm spoiled.
No joke, but try this as a temporary measure to see what you might exactly need to do with the seat longer term. My wife had L4-L5 fusion about 3 years ago and ever since then she's used a small firm travel pillow on the seat back...see picture. This enables her to take long drives 1+ hours with me without issue. She's thin and stocky so her body type is likely not similar. But this costs you what, $20-$30 to try? Maybe even something a bit thinner/shorter than what she uses would be good to experiment with?
Wife pic for reference. 5'-3" of sexy fun every day!

Thanks TRM, I'll definitely try the lumbar pillow idea at first. If that solves the problem then I can have one of the custom upholstery shops named above do a more permanent aesthetically pleasing modification to the driver's seat. Again, thanks to all for the great responses!
