that being said, I had start up ticking with Mobil 0W40 and 5W50. I know use Liqui Moly 5W40 a A40 and a Porsche approved oil. 6k miles on the car.

I can say, no more ticking at start up.

I purchased this kit kit and brought to dealer and they used it on my T except the plug.

Same thing happens to me (2018 T). Used to get ticks when starting cold (car has also sit for a few days). Goes away by itself after it's been lubricated, Now with Liqui Moly 5w/40, the car feels much smoother. Only using LM 5w/40 from now on...

My 2017 Carrera makes the same noise, particularly after sitting for a few days or a week. Goes away on warm up. I think what we are all concerned with is the fact that the noise is indicative of higher wear during warm up that may eventually result in some type of failure at an earlier then expected age. Has anyone heard Porsche's position on this? I would think enough of us have mentioned this to the dealer, so that Porsche is aware of this issue.

Same for me, 2019 C2S. Ticks until warm. I always thought it was the lifters.

Since sport cat and header install I have not heard the ticking after the car sits for more than a few days. Very interesting.🤔

Bump - Hello, this noise coming from integrated dry sump which deaerated and prevents oil foaming, i had same noise on r8 which have separated dry oil sump, on my 911.2 i cant almost hear it because im running 5w40 when dealer on my r8 changed oil to 0w40 it become louder noise of pump also when oil was on half it was louder than top of. That quiter and quicker ticking is by hydraulic lifters it do all 911 i heared few new also 992 with 1000km also same.

Update, ticking is back if the car sits for more than a few days. Not always but about 50% of the time.

Suggest that you retorque your exhaust header bolts. They are known to loosen if not torqued in proper sequence. You may be hearing a slight leak in the exhaust gasket until it warms up and expands sealing the gap.

Just because nobody said it here, 9A1 is the 3.8 in 997.2 and 991.1; OP refers to the 991.2 3.0T. Still, I think the instructions are good and I follow them in my .2, just like I did in my 997.2S.
