Default Huge bang driving at low speed - no damage

Yesterday I reversed out of my garage and was driving very slowly on our private street, probably about 10mph when I heard a huge bang. I thought one of my tires had exploded or something. Stopped, checked everything, all tires ok, nothing looked wrong underneath the car, no fluids leaking. Anybody have any idea what this could be?

Car drove fine the rest of the day, tire pressures all fine, temps ok. Very strange.

I would try exiting the garage at a much higher speed, evasive maneuvers employed till at the end of your street. He’s unlikely to miss twice.

Something was stick to your tires, and released?

Stuck caliper and then released??

Does not sound like the "accorn effect".

I’m just not sure what it was! No damage at all that I can see but I was ready for something expensive when I got out of the car to check! Nick Murray in his 911 videos often talks about a bang or ‘jump’ from 911’s when moving at full lock, but I was driving with the wheels straight when this happened. I’ve never experienced the noise Nick mentions.

There is some major construction going on nearby so I’m hoping the noise was from that...but I was pretty sure at the time the noise came from my car.

Hopefully nothing, but likely as others have indicated as something on the road hitting the underbody panels, or other bits. Could also have been the noise an empty water bottle, container, or similar makes when you run it over and it "pops" from the compression!

As for the "Nick Murray" noise, that is what others refer to as the "Acorn Effect" when turning especially in cold weather, and the front tires "skip" across the surface a bit causing noises and shuddering in the steering wheel. Completely "normal". That is not what you have described here.

Was your car freshly washed overnight or the day before and the car had not moved since then?

That loud bang can be associated with your pads sticking to your rotors typically after a wash, it sounds loud and definitely sounds like you might have broken something when really it is just the pads freeing itself from being stuck on the rotors.

Common and nothing to be alarmed.

These 911’s certainly give you some ‘oh s$&@!’ moments...a few days ago I had the ‘stone stuck in caliper’ squealing noise!
