Default CPO After the Fact

Does anybody know if it's possible for a dealer to do a CPO warranty on a car they didn't sell you? I know it costs them $2k-3k to get the warranty. I wonder if I pay them the fee plus pay for whatever it costs to bring the car up to CPO standard, if they'll be able to do it for me.

I doubt it unless you sold it to them and they sold it back to you.

Some may consider it, but if they did, they would charge you above the normal ~$2500, as they would have to do all the inspection work, plus any reparations in order to certify it per the mother ship's standards. Better to get an aftermarket warranty. I know because I bought a car from a dealer and after I took possession of it asked them if they could have CPO'd it, and what I just told you is what they told me.

What aftermarket warranty did you get? I can't seem to find one that isn't sold only through dealers at the point of sale.

Most of us use Fidelity Platinum. You can buy it from any dealer, there's a guy at Mossy Motors who gives us good pricing, PM me if you want his contact info. I was able to get my dealer to beat his price by a couple hundred.

Search this forum and you will get a lot of advice on options and pricing from Fidelity. And M. Jordon is the guy at Mossey who has been selling them for years.

By the way, do you have any factory warranty left? If so wait until you are a few months from its expiration before getting an extended one.
