If You Don’t Believe in Miracles...
...you may after my story.
I took my P-car to the dealer yesterday for its three year service. It has a little more than 18,200 miles. When I told the service guy I had changed the oil and cabin filters, he gave me a funny look and asked, “What do you want us do to then?”. I told him to do the rest of the stuff they ordinarily do. He was kind of flustered and listed resetting the service reminder, checking computer diagnostics, topping fluids, etc. “Okay, do that” I said. He replied it would only take 15-20 minutes if I wanted to wait instead of taking a loaner and coming back. I took the loaner anyway to run an errand to a nearby Lowes. When I returned he was there with my key and handed it to me without any paperwork. When I asked if I needed to pay is when the clouds parted and heavenly music began. “No charge” he said.
When’s the last time anyone’s heard those words in a Porsche dealer? The Salt Lake City dealer is a good one, but this experience exceeded my already good view of them.

Not surprised considering the dealership.
I bought my ‘17 tt (cpo) from Teddy at Salt Lake City Porsche (found it online). He took my Audi RS5 in trade. I didn’t set eyes on the car until it came off the truck in Florida. Perfect transaction.

No charge because they probably did not do anything

Porsche_nuts--you may be right. After all, 15-20 minutes is barely enough time to open the, ahem, engine cover or plug the OBDII in. But they could have charged $100 and I probably wouldn't. have given it another thought.

I can feel your joy, it’s always nice to get freebies from the dealership.
I just experienced a similar situation with my local dealership & I will be forever grateful for their help resolving my issue .. I will keep my story for another thread so I don’t thread jack OP’s lol

Good for you. Free is rarely a word you hear at a Porsche dealer. I was at a dealer in NJ today to buy some extra tire valve caps, and when I asked for 4, the parts guy went in the back and gave me 6 for free. I know they’re cheap but still.

Part of the service is that they are supposed to connect PWIS and check for faults etc. No way, they did all that. Hence they didn't want a paper trail.....but they wanted to make a customer happy so you would come back for the full service.

Not to rain on your happy parade, but did they enter anything in the service record? Without paperwork, you don't have any documentation that the 20k "service" was done.

I thought about the paper trail today and plan to call Monday and get something to indicate the service and have it in my file. I take my invoices for the oil and filters, write in the date and miles and put it in my own service folder.

Yes keep your oil & oil filter invoice , that’s all you need as proof of your oil change. You don’t have to service the car at the dealership, you can go to an Indy shop or DIY, just keep receipts.
