Alarm siren defective?
Car alarm went off yesterday without a clear reason. Kept going off but stopped making sound (I wasn’t there to witness any of it). Dealer checked it out today and said it’s a faulty alarm siren. Has anyone had this issue or knowledge about it ? The part is around $300 and labor over $500 - thank goodness for the extended warranty!

I think there must be a minimum $800 charge at Porsche service... 😊

I was driving on the freeway a couple of years ago and my alarm suddenly went off. Coincidently, I happened to be about 4 miles from my dealership, Porsche of Livermore. It turned out that it was a faulty key. They kept the car 8 days, I got a Cayenne loaner, and it was covered under warranty.

I'm surprised such a part is defective in a car with 20k miles that's barely 6 years old. Wondering if there was something I did that caused this or perhaps that the issue is mis-diagnosed?

The same thing happened to me. I think it started out as an intermittent issue (I kept thinking the car had not locked), and then completely stopped working. The 991.1 has one horn dedicated to the alarm, and "chirps" when locking the doors. The horn was replaced under warranty; no issues since.

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago...Flashers would go off for no apparent reason but no alarm sound. It was a random issue on/off for about a week only when alarm was set. Car was sitting but on a battery tender (also a newer battery) so not sure if that was the culprit. Since I have been driving more I have not had the issue in awhile. See thread below...looks like a few others have had this issue so would be good to find an inexpensive fix (or definitive root cause) for those out of warranty. 2012 1/2 c2s.
