Doing 101 in a 55, in Virginia they would have locked you up and thrown away the key. Seriously.

If it is just a simple speeding ticket (no reckless driving charge), I would pay the fine and drive on (and don't do north of 100 in the future unless you are on an autobahn or a track).

Do not ever just pay the ticket, the real cost is insurance etc. Pay a lawyer $75 to $200 to go to court for you. Even if the money is the same pled down to a bad turn signal equals no points. I have had many, many faulty turn signals over the years in different states. I have never lost preferred insurance status.

That was the end of the conversation. I apologized and he said he would cut me a break. He said he was at 101mph and that when I rapidly pulled away he hit the lights. So end of story he cited me for speeding violation and fail to signal. Total fine $560. No court appearance needed. Just send payment and move on. First ticket I have had in 7 years. Oregon does not have a point system. I am thinking I just pay it and learn. My feeling is If I appear in court and the judge learns my actual speed was 130ish that might be a problem. Keep in mind it would be a guess since he was measuring my speed by pacing.

Golden rule in PA (probably applicable for all States)... Before speeding up check your mirrors for:

Explorers
Chargers
Taurus
Expeditions
Tahoes

It only takes a few seconds to scan, if the coast is clear smash that loud pedal until your heart gets enough.
It was a dark gray SUV. Explorer I think. It was dark so impossible to tell in rear view mirror. His headlights were 5 feet from by bumper and they appeared to be HID.

I have friends that live in Virginia and I heard about their draconian traffic laws. I must say for that reason I would never live in that state. Sounds oppressive.

While the LEO's may not have been doing everything as we (or the procedures manual) would like, I think we owe it to ourselves to keep ourselves out of jeopardy.

Merging quickly to the left lane before getting the feel for traffic (as mentioned above) put you in jeopardy. 8 car lengths of space between two vehicles at 89 miles per hour is what they call bump-drafting in NASCAR. The police weren't using radar so your detector remained silent. Waze doesn't track moving police cars, so Waze would not have warned you. Patience and powers of observation would have saved you. Had you remained a safe distance behind the SUV in front of you and moved right at your earliest opportunity you would have minimized your jeopardy.

Applying 12 lbs of boost exaggerated the situation. Perhaps you were exhausted from a long day. I think we'd agree in hindsight that's not a good condition to be lighting the fuse on a Turbo S.

You're lucky it was an LEO and not some drug-enraged pistol happy lunatic you cut in front of... this could have ended much worse for the guy wearing scrubs driving the fancy car.
Thank you. Trust me I know. I drive that stretch of road daily. It is literally only 3 exits on the 5. 5 mins tops. It was a perfect storm. I have had 3 speeding tickets in 30 years of driving. I am usually very aware of my surroundings.

You don’t want to be caught going above 80 mph at all or 20 mph over the speed limit, no matter what it is set at, unless you want to risk jail.

I am not a fan of our speeding laws.

Haven’t had a ticket in decades and thankfully we have race tracks here but I still hate our speeding laws.

In Ontario they impound your car on the spot and suspend your license for 30 days for such an offense. I don't wanna sound like a nag but driving 100mph on a public road is reckless, and in your case it's even worse as you're saying traffic was dense. There will always be in idiot to tailgate you, move aside as soon as possible and let him get in trouble instead of you. In your case I would consult a lawyer specialized in these cases and see what the best course of action is before paying the ticket.

I was crazy speeding one day. Saw the dreaded red & blue lights. Pulled over, turned of off the 911, zipped down the windows, and awaited my fate. Kept hands visible at 10 & 2 with no sudden movements in the cabin. Seemed to take forever. Then I hear a tap tap tapping noise, look out the window. Nothing. Tap tap tapping noise again, this time I stick my head out the window, look straight down, and see this midget state trooper. He says to me, "I am NOT happy". In this funny squeaky voice. And then I say back to him, "Then you must be either Sneezy or Grumpy!". That's when the fight broke out.

Depending on your age, never pass up the bathroom. As a Doc, you should know this!

I recall reading about a surgeon ( a few years back) from a famous Boston hospital who was stopped for doing 130+ in his R8 on interstate 89 in NH. It is a nice scenic highway (posted limit 65) that runs from Concord NH to Burlington VT and is very amenable to high speeds as long as one can evade the deer (Moose) and the state troopers. The car was impounded. The guy probably didn't care and must have bought another one the next day.
