When I traded in my MB 450 GL six months ago two dealers and Car Max were within $250 of each other. Clearly not a coincidence.

I received a pretty strong offer from Autotrader KBB Instant Offer on my 2017 Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio just last week. Ultimately got $47k from dealer trade-in but KBB offered me $46k which I thought was reasonable.

Based on my experiences, with a car of this price range, expect a good $10-15+K less from a trade in than you can get on a private sale (if you have an enticing outfitted example that can attract at least a specific type of buyer, if you're patient, and if you know how to present a car).

Trading in is like throwing money away so someone else can reap the profits off your back. Sell that car private party and you'll get over $60K. Just be patient, wait for the right buyer, and take good pics joined by a good and attractive write up.
