If you’re on it, different story. Shifts weren’t quite as rude as my old car. Need to play with it more.
Interesting

Agreed.

It is how it is handled in the newest GT cars though. Check out interior pics of the 718 Spyder and GT4 and you'll see a button labeled Auto Blip.

PDK in Sport+ in the 987.2 era was the a mess.

I remember coming into a Safeway supermarket parking lot in a Cayman S and slowing for the crosswalk only to have PDK double downshift to first gear aggressively. You should have seen the pedestrians scatter...all while I was doing ~15 mph when I hit the brakes. Pretty sure some of them ran back into the store.

He is driving a 991.2 I believe, and if it were PDK it is completely different than 991.1. The 991.2 does not hold the gear to red line unless it needs to, it really is the best PDK to come along on a 911 (excluding GT cars). Sport Plus on my 2017 is amazing. I would run it all the time, but like the question I'm not sure I should, but really I don't see why not, all my friends that have it agree. For those in a 991.1 PDK that haven't taken the time to try a .2 PDK really should. It is totally addictive!

Yeah my 2016 991.1 PDK, it gets really schizophrenic when in Auto Sports-Plus. But flip her into manual mode and hang on for the fun. It has no issue running under 4K rpm that way and up shifting at 6K is a scream.

Cheers.

I have a 2017 C4S and often drive in Sport and Sport +. Just amazing how the PDK senses the "urgency" of the desired acceleration and shifts accordingly. Eg, in Comfort gently accelerate and it goes gradually from 3-4-5-6-7th gears. Hammer it, and it will drop from say 7th to 5th. In Sport, it will drop from all the way down to 3rd, and in Sport+ it will actually start in 3rd regardless of how hard you're pressing the gas. (Sorry if this is common knowledge to many- I've just started playing around with it after almost 2 years). It will then hold the gear longer, but in proportion to how fast you are depressing the gas (slow, it will upshift sooner. fast, it will hold it or even downshift). The shifts are definitely more violent in Sport + . Absolutely amazing how intuitive it is. I can't remember if SC was optional or included with PDK but it should be standard with any PDK car. Increases the fun factor by 10. Yes you can replicate most of this in manual mode, but its not quite the same and sometimes I like the car shifting for me. Very cool how Porsche did this but I guess that's what we're paying for.
