Tip your transport driver?
Weird question I know, when having a car transported, did you tip your driver? I have Plycar delivering my car from Texas tomorrow and wanted to make sure I had some cash in case it is normal to tip the driver of your car transport? If you did tip, how much?
I didn't! And the driver didn't seem to be expecting anything.
I'm a retired snowbird. My small auto carrier has been charging me $600 for my annual 1200 mile Orlando/Chicago and return trips for 4 years now, open trailer, mostly small trailers pulled by pickup trucks. I do tip my drivers, if they are careful about scraping the front spoiler edge on ramps, etc. Usually $30-40, depending...
Do as you wish but if the guy is a slob or doesn't deserve it... Don't tip... I've met far too many sloppy, weird truck drivers. Don't have to much trust.. the industry is filled with scum. Not being negative, just reporting my knowledge.

I had my car delivered to Texas. May sound cheap that i didn't tip, but I paid the transport company the deposit, then the remaining to the driver. I think they were getting upwards of 60% of the delivery costs. Did want to mention that i was told my car would be there on Friday and ended u getting it on Monday. Not sure if the transport company was feeding me misinformation, should have contacted the driver directly.

I had a busy day, and my guy was at the house at 5:30am. I was very happy, and I think he was the type that started his day really early to miss traffic.
I gave him $20 to get breakfast. He seemed pleased and unexpected.

I had my 911 shipped across country in an enclosed container. I think it cost about 1500-2000$. Don't remember exactly. Very good service. I always tip 20%. I would feel like a total jerk having someone drive across 2000 miles to deliver a fancy sports car and not tipping.
In the service industry, if people do you a solid, tip them. It's a very personal choice. No right or wrong. And treating people with respect, regardless of the industry and job choice, goes a long way too. These are the people that make the world go around. Certainly not me.
I used my dealer for the 4 year service and they will pick it up and deliver it on a flatbed. Wife was out of town so I had her car so figured I would give it a try.
Much to my surprise the driver was a woman, guilty of stereotyping.
When she returned it I gave her a small tip, but then again I tip the garbage guys every year.
As LexVan said no wrong or right answer.

I normally tip most folks that provide a service. However when my coupe was transported in a closed trailer to my home the driver refused to back out my vehicle from his trailer. I had to back out my vehicle and I didn’t mind, but all chances of me tipping him were out the window.
