Yes I did it. I just sold my 17 C2S last month and Friday I put a deposit a Corvette C8 with Z51 pack. I know, I know it's not built in Germany but you've got to check out this car out for the bucks. Base in Canada ,$69,985.00CAN. Options are not yet listed on DOG but based on C7 option prices, the car should be somewhere in the low 90"s well equipped. My 17 C2S was my 8th Porsche. My last Corvette was in 1988. After 31 years, I'm back. I doubt that I will regret this but there is little downside for resale in the first year.
I've loved my Porsches but I think this car is worth a try.
Now you can all start throwing stones at me.
I don't understand people talking build quality that haven't even seen a car yet. I had a C7 and it was great. Good luck, and enjoy.
Years and years and years of poor built quality... That's called reputation. I just couldn't take the risk with the first generation of an all-new platform from GM and depreciation.
Enjoy your C8! Like most of us, I'm looking forward to seeing how the new Corvettes evolve. If you find that you do miss your Porsche, then come on back - we'll still be here!

In a year or two the Z06 will be available. The rumoured engine is a TT 4.2L modern engine with 730HP. I expect that will be a real performer. In any event this C8 Z51 is not a keeper. The Z06 will be my second C8 if I'm happy with the Z51. This all came about because I could not get a GT3RS allocation at retail from my dealer. That is insulting after buying 8 new Porsches. Maybe the Corvette will dampen dealer greed for future customers.
Thanks guys, it has been a great experience to have been part of this forum with the greatest car enthusiasts. I am now moving on to God's waiting room on the Corvette forum.

Are the chevy dealers charging adm? Did u get yours at MSRP?
I too have done the porsche corvette shuffle . I first started with a 993 then a C5 coupe 6month , moved to a C6 ZO6, 6 month f,finally got GM to buy it back because A pillar cracking and couldn't fix it , bought a C7 convertible kept it for 13 years total of 24000 miles never could really enjoy the car too hard to get into and out of , rode rough , noisy , not well built. Now 991.1 convertible love the car so different . I don't think even as good as the C8 looks I will ever go back to a 'Corvette . My only problem with the Porsche is 100 miles to my dealer for service . It makes me hesitant to put lots of miles on it , but I sure I will . I put 130,000 miles on my 993 , before i had a brain fart and sold it. Maybe I will keep this one for 13 years and put 130,000 miles on it.
The Corvettes have been just beasts to drive and almost uncontrollable when pushing it all out , it truly is not a forgiving car , I guess I just wasn't a good enough driver to handle it.
I can't stand Vettes or their.. ahem.. "demographical reputations" but the C8 looks pretty amazing. My issues are "how much GM'ness will it have in person," and that horrid corporate rear which looks straight out of the Camaro rental fleet. Otherwise I am VERY intrigued and impressed, and excited for the car. The only thing keeping me tepid is knowing that I likely won't fit my head into it well enough. I also didn't realize how MASSIVE the car is. 183" in length and 76.xx" in width makes it about as long as a 3 Series and as wide as a Macan.
It's a different car than the 911. The 991's timelessly smooth/organic curves and form are very much my taste, but I would certainly have a lot of fun in an extroverted, 500 HP N/A V8, at least for a bit. This Corvette definitely changes the game.
