Yes I did it. I just sold my 17 C2S last month and Friday I put a deposit a Corvette C8 with Z51 pack. I know, I know it's not built in Germany but you've got to check out this car out for the bucks. Base in Canada ,$69,985.00CAN. Options are not yet listed on DOG but based on C7 option prices, the car should be somewhere in the low 90"s well equipped. My 17 C2S was my 8th Porsche. My last Corvette was in 1988. After 31 years, I'm back. I doubt that I will regret this but there is little downside for resale in the first year.
I've loved my Porsches but I think this car is worth a try.
Now you can all start throwing stones at me.
I am not sure what to say as I think the C8 has potential to be a great sports car; however, it will never replace my 991.2 Targa, and I think you'll be better off posting from here on: https://www.corvetteforum.com/
I looked at the numbers and at approx 3650 lbs with fuel and liquids the lbs per hp is the same as the 991.2 GTS, which is to say not approaching any supercar numbers. It is not even close to the nsx or the 991.2 GT3 for that matter in lbs/hp. I am reading journalists compare this car to McLarens and Ferrari's, for christ sake. At any highway speeds neither the c8 or 911 gts will be approaching any of these cars.
Moreover, the car is very, very large for a sports car, and it weighs more than my f8x m3. Without RAS, this is going to be a land yacht to steer around town. I wouldn't be surprised with FAL and some other interior bits you're going to be closer to 3750 lbs.
Not to say Chevy didn't do a great job with a bargain sports car, but watching an hour of marketing from the release video hasn't sold me- At least Toyota (Supra) and Porsche (992, all vehicles) had cars and tests ready to go vs advertising preproduction specs without testable vehicles. The whole thing reminded me of Tesla releases and not in a good way. They wanted to get as many deposits down as they can with a little showmanship, much like Tesla, and it looks like they succeeded.
I'll wait til the numbers come out as well as the durability of the tremec dct before I'll jump on the bandwagon. For certain I would not get a 1st year model, people forgot C and D as well as Motortrend's c7 stingray's engines grenaded the 1st year.
To be fair, I don't like the direction of the 992, ever larger, ever heavier- this new Corvette is actually larger still and heavier still...
I think the C8 platform is going to make those who bought a Ford GT very foolish looking over time. This is just the first salvo, just wait till they get to the C8 ZR1. And coming from a product launch timing perspective, who would buy a GT500 over a C8?

Let's put things in perspective:
Ford GT has a 3380 lbs curb weight (with liquids and gas) and 656 hp.
C8 has a 3650 lbs curb weight (approx- chevy quoted 3300 dry), and 495 hp.
Even c and d estimates the c8 will get a 12.0 second 1/4 mile, the ford gt gets 10.8... It's not nearly in the same league.

You're using the numbers from the base C8. The ZR1 will be much better. I'd put money on the ZR1 beating the Ford GT for an msrp of under $130K. We will see in time.

Fair enough, looking at the math, you're going to need over 700 hp just to match the current Ford GT on that c8 platform.
Understanding diminishing returns, you're looking at closer to 800 hp to significantly beat a ford gt in straightline speed. I think by that time we are looking at hybrids and full electric sports cars with over 1,000 hp and instant torque.
Sadly not the direction I want to go, but doesn't matter what I think.
Good luck with the C8. Sounds like you have had Vettes before so it's like going home.
I just couldn't do it. Have never owned a Vette before, they just never checked the right boxes for me no negative issues. Never owned an American car till I married my 1st wife and inherited hers.
I don't love everything Porsche does but I do overlook the unimportant things and have stuck with the brand and never been disappointed. Could not be happier with my car and my wife is on her 4th Pcar a new Miami Blue Macan. I take great care of my Porsches and they have treated me equally good. I'm going to stick with what's working for me for now.
Hope it works out for you like you are planning. Looks like an exciting car and an attention getter.

I think the base Vette will have performance numbers close to the 992S, just like the C7 was close to the 911S in performance...and the C6 before that. But at 2/3 the price (as with the C7 or the C6 and so on). Still a great performance bargain as were its predecessors, if you can tolerate cheaper interior materials (yes, even the C7, although improved, wasn't near Porsche-level in that regard), a worse dealer experience, etc. Always some sacrifices at that price point but you won't find performance at that price anywhere else, at least for new OEM cars.
The Z06 and ZR1 versions will be amazing.
I had a C5 and a C6 for many years before I came over to the dark side. I won't be leaving any time soon (the pleasure of driving the car is more than just numbers on paper and I have absolutely drunk the Kool-Aid - LOVE my 911 and the brand) but if the C8 had come out in 2014...I'm not sure I would have gone Porsche. It would have been a lot harder choice.
Going forward, it would be tough to pick a non-GT4 Cayman over the C8. I am very interested to see what the first test drive reviews say.
