Default License Plate Lights

Hello friends. I'm the new owner of a 2012.5 C2S, PDK with 37k miles. I'm coming from a 996 C4S daily driver and I must say I'm enjoying the decade worth of refinement on this platform!

The P.O. just had the 40k mile service done and I'm wondering if they missed a connection for the license plate lights when buttoning it back up because they currently won't illuminate. Tail lamps work fine, no fuses blown, and I've seen the rear bumper removal procedure mention disconnecting the tail lamp connectors on both sides of the bumper before removal is possible. Do the license plate lights get fed from this same connection or is there another behind the bumper?

Thanks for your insight and happy to finally join the club!

The taillights work on a separate wiring harness. The license plate lights all run off of 1 bumper harness, and it's not necessary to disconnect the individual lights to remove the rear bumper. Sounds like they forgot to plug the rear bumper harness back in.

Good deal, thanks for confirming. Any chance I can reach this harness from under the car while elevated or am I looking at taking the bumper off?

There is a write up on this forum for bumper removal as well YouTube vids of the same. Check those out to get a good idea what you need to do,

Got it figured out. By removing the left tail lamp you can clearly see where this connector for the license plate lamp lives on the inside of the bumper. No need to raise up the car or go from underneath. Plugged it back in and the lights came on! Thanks for the help.
