You get free bottled water at dealer.

You can get a loaner car which is what I do at the dealer.

Nothing makes me happier than spending time in my garage. I take a whole day to service my Pork... I take my sweet time doing things slowly and right, clean every part, check others, clean my tools, etc. It helps me with anxiety and daily BS.

My 14 year old boy has taken interest, so now he gets to spend some time with me, learning tools and how to rescue sockets from the depths of the engine bay. LOL.

Good insight. My dealer in Northern Virginia (Tysons) wants $558 for just the oil change. I'm guessing my Indy shop will be a couple hundred bucks less. No loaner from my dealer for an oil change. Definitely bottled water and drooling over cars on showroom.

I know, as a used car buyer, I like dealer service history. It's a sign that the owner probably didn't cheap out on repairs. Not to say a DIY and Indy guys don't do great work.

Split the baby.

Bring your own oil (Porsche approved, of course) and filter to the dealer.

You get nice Porsche service records, get the free warm cookies and nice espresso from the lounge and/or a loaner car, but aren't completely taken to the woodshed on the price of the oil change.

Not where I go...

And as long as one keeps detailed records and receipts, which I have done for every car and motorcycle I have owned, it meant nothing to the buyers that a dealer did not perform the services, other than warranty work of course.

Not everyone agrees, but having at least some service done at a dealer might improve your chances of good will. And that might prove critical if you have a warranty claim that is in a gray area, like something that breaks the day after your CPO coverage expires.

Hi OP-
I’ll chime in here. On my fourth 991 so I have some years of experience here. When I bought my first one, I brought it to the dealer for the first oil change. They wanted $500. They came up with several BS reasons why that made sense. At least to them. I’ve been taking it to my local shop that works on Porsche’s all day long. Their rate is $165. They sort of apologize for that too. Complain about Porsche part costs. I was thrilled. Been using them on all my cars. Only use the dealer for warranty work. So none.

Doing it yourself is another option. I’m going to try that next time. Doesn’t look hard. Less than $100.

Might not be in your future plans, but on my previous CPO new title 2015 C2S, I got $5000 more for trade-in than I could get at 2 other dealers at long distance. My Brand Ambassador did not even go outside to check out my trade, cause i had all its service done there. And it also saved me 2-way shipping for the trade.
That was worth the extra service costs to me. He sold in about 2 weeks and shipped it to a buyer 1700 miles away. All they had to do was strip the PPF that had a little road rash, and detail it. It looked brand new, and had all dealer service records on the PCNA dealer service network.

Madison, Wisconsin. The 20k service includes an oil change and would be $520.00 plus tax. The brake fluid service is $215.00 plus tax.
