My 991.2 displays speed limit all the time. Even "dings" when I am > 10 miles over. I just keep WAZE active on CarPlay. Helps warn of those pesky speed-limit enforcers too.

I have noticed that my speed limits are wrong is some areas, as municipalities change speed limits along roads depending on community and political actions. I am assuming the only way to update the speed limit is through navigation update? Anyone know?

I really wish Porsche and other car companies had a way to update these things automatically OTA. Oh, and it should be free updates too. Enough of nickle and dime-ing customers.

Pretty sure this can be coded in PIWIS if you really want it, there appears to be a setting within the cluster coding called BC_Konfiguration_Byte_*_Anzeige_Speed_Limit_Navi that is off by default

This would be well worth having changed at the dealer, if possible. Nice to see the limit next to your actual speed, and toggling to the map or being forced to run one app ahead of others on PCM is a poor compromise.

Can anyone confirm?

I would like to see the speed limit as well. Are there any folks in this forum with a PIWIS?

Good thread.

I typically have Waze running via CarPlay. I’ve set the speed monitor to chime at X over the local limit. I find it’s easier to listen for that rather the look for a display.

My understanding, in the UK at least, is that you get or configure your pcm to display speed limit from GPS but may or may not be accurate. For £236 you can option a 'speed limit indicator' to display on your MFD near actual speed reading which works off camera reading the actual road signs.

Suspect it is a dual system, both Nav based, I.e. works on streets where haven’t passed a posted limit, but also in work zones which of course are highly variable so is either camera based or a signal is emitted. Driving in Germany I just assumed variable speed limits/work zones etc. were updated based on active signal. Hadn’t considered camera’s but seems reasonable as in both GTS and BMW update is coincident with signs and both cars have camera systems.

Just a theory...now curious will do some more real world samplying

In EU, you can get a camera that reads signs. Not available in US. When I travel outside US, many rental cars have the camera system and it works really well.

.1 gen you can see speed limit in multi display. In the .2 that isn't possible (in US). Not too important for me because I typically know the speed limit however scouting for cop cars is more of a priority...might be going 10+ over and they'll pull me over if they had a chance nonetheless.

The windshield camera is for auto high beam with LED light package (doesn't work too well in my experience with other cars).
