Default Road paint specks on my PPF - any advice?

If you were ever wondering if PPF is worth it, the answer is YES.

I was leaving West Glacier, MT on HWY 2 eastbound and encountered a work zone where traffic was limited to one direction at a time. As I waited in line at a full stop for the flagman to permit traffic to flow eastbound, a truck spraying yellow road markings passed within feet of my car...

Now I've got these yellow flecks all along the side of the car. I went to a manual car wash in Kalispell, MT - but it wouldn't come off with the high pressure spray. I got home (Seattle) today and worked on it some more, but no dice. Anyone know how to get this stuff to come off?

I'm SO glad I got the car fully wrapped in PPF, but now I'm wondering if I'll need to re-wrap it all over again.

Can try in order of escalation: Tar-X, WD-40, lacquer thinner.

PS - I love Glacier NP!

can't one make a claim to the city for damages to private property like this?

I've been having most success with paint polishing cream for stuff that gets on my PPF

I had someone spill paint on the road and drove over it with my x5. Luckily I was by my house and immediately washed and clay bar, was able to get 90% of it but took many hours. I would say take it to a professional detailer and have them go at it. It doesn’t look too bad- my tires were white with paint and my entire half of the car had specks.

Clay, Tax X or Compound/Polish will get rid of that no problem.

This happened to me years ago all along the bottom edge of my door and rocker panel. I believe I used alcohol and paint thinner. Came right off. Does take any polish or sealer with it.

Paint cleaning clay will remove the spots and won’t hurt the PPF.

Clay it, it’ll work.

Clay bar. Do not use paint thinner or similar type stuff as others suggested. Terrible advice.

Glad you had PPF. My 991 50th does not, I am letting it "patina" due to my desire and hope to keep the car for a very long time. That being said, I was recently sitting on HWY 1 in the middle of CA on a construction stop. Big truck flies by on other side spraying gravel, rocks, and debris to the sides of the sitting cars including mine. Cringed real hard, although I felt worse for the guy in the open top Mercedes SL behind me...

You can try mineral spirits, I've used it many times to take of asphalt road tar, even after it has set. It hasn't affected any automotive paint finish on cars that I've owned.

I wash the area thoroughly after use, then wax.

They used to apply road stripes as a hot mixture under pressure, not quite sure what they use now.

There's a whole bunch of information available if you Google "removing road stripe paint from car finish".

Back in the 90s I drove my brand new white Suburban into a state park in Utah. After getting stuck in a line of cars delayed by road work, they waved us through a section just sprayed with hot tar, but without any stones or sand layered on top. I ended up with black tar under all of the car, and on the lower parts of the doors and fenders. I was not happy, and stopped to talk with the road crew (a contractor).

I went to a body shop the next day, and paid them to get 99% off (still left with subtle staining on white paint). I sent the bill to the road work company, along with a stern but calm letter, and they paid it.
