Default Blackout xenon headlights for a 991.2

Hello!

I am a former Cayman(981) owner and I recently purchased the beauty you see below. I am looking to replace my 2018 991.2 S silver xenon headlights with blackout xenon headlights. I want to give it a more aggressive look that will match the nature of the car.

I have a few questions and I hope this awesome community can answer them for me:

- Do you know the part number for blackout xenon headlights? I have seem different part numbers online.
- I know some shops can blackout the housing but it might be a complicated process, do you recommend shops or websites for this process? there is a bunch of sites/services for BMW but I have not seem one for Porsche.
- Are they a simple swap?
- How is the process to replace the headlights? Videos or instructions will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Search this forum since it has been discussed before but I cannot recall exactly when. You can get a gloss black decal that goes around the perimeter though if that simple change will suffice.

I'm sure you can get at Suncoast.

This is only for 991.1. The .2 cars have a different headlight attachment system (no access from the frunk). First the bumper cover has to come off, and then a skinny wrench can loosen 2 small bolts under the lamp housing.

Hi @felo001 . Did you ever get a quote? I have the standard xenons for my 991.2 (with silver housing) and looking to get what I believe are the xenon PDLS with black housing. What’s the cost of the headlight replacement and did you have to get the dealer to reprogram with the new headlight?

Per Suncoast, they only offer black headlamps for 911's that have LED Headlamps. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade kit for the Xenon for the 991.2 generation. My best option is to find a used set.

@felo001 I ended up getting my current headlights blacked out by Bayoptiks (www.bayoptiks.com) and had new headlight lenses installed. They did an amazing job, in case you’re still interested in getting black headlights for your 991.2.

My lenses didn’t have PPF and became really pitted with rocks chips, so this was a perfect opportunity to upgrade.

Congrats on the car—it looks great!

If you're thinking about silver wheels, think twice about blacking out the headlights on a dark car. The black housings are for the swiveling bi-xenon lights, which my dark 991.2 has. And I wish they were silver to match the car's silver wheels, but if you wanted the functionality, you took the black bezels. I think they look great on lighter colored cars, but I feel my headlights fade away a bit too much on my car—as they're supposed to be a defining element of the 911. YMMV, but if you search for the Ultraviolet 991.1 GT3 RS as photographed at the original press launch at Bilster Berg, you'll see what I mean.

Thank you @omalonzo , great tip. I went to their site and the pricing is ok with the work they need to do to change the color. How fast was the process for you? Are you happy with the results?

Rennlights may also be worth a look. I had my 991.1 lights blacked out and new lenses installed and they turned out great.
