V1 detector saved me yesterday
I hardwired my V1 this past Fall. I leave it on all the time. I was driving on a very nice rural back road in the next town over to where I live. I drive it once per week the last 2 years. Never seen cop on it. Speed limit 35 mph. Nice rolling. Hills and twists. I usually engage sport mode and drive 45-60. Usually no traffic. Never had any false alarms in V1. It’s a quiet road in that regard. Yesterday I was doing my usual drive and I noticed a quick “braap” from the VI. I Ignored it. Then it happened again. I took notice and slowed down to 35. Low and behold about a mile up the road Over a small knoll there was a cop with his radar on. If it weren’t for V1 I would have been pinched. I drove by the cop exactly 35 mph with a huge grin. I looked right st him. He saw me clearly smiling. I wonder if he knows I had a legal in NH radar detector. I was very happy the rest of the drive.

I am always very cautious when traffic is light and I don't have a rabbit available.I am a V1 guy, but it is no match for an Instant On or Laser ambush unless there is sacrificial traffic ahead of you.

Luckily he was shooting drivers ahead of you, otherwise, you would have been toast.

Sorry, BGLeDuc, but there is nothing such as sacrificial traffic when it comes to laser. Many years ago I was driving through Atlanta on I-85 when I rounded a curve and surprisingly saw a county-mounty holding a laser gun at me while standing at the guard-rail separating the north and south traffic. My Valentine went off, but too late since he already had me. A microsecond before I got the signal from my Valentine, a BMW sped past me on my left as if I was sitting still. The Mounty jumped in his car and pulled me over. After the write-up, I respectfully asked the Mounty if he saw the BMW that roared past me while he was focused on me. He saw it, but, using laser he had no way of recording it since he was focused on me and not the more excessive speeding BMW. This is now an example of why sacrificial traffic does not exist when you compete with laser. Yes, sacrificial traffic can protect you from radar, but not laser. I have many examples unfortunately

Is the capital “L” the correct setting for the V1 for max sensitivity?

last week a panamera pass my merc on the left at my local road over a double yellow. he was in a hurry.
30sec later he was stopped by the cop hiding behind the building and watched the overtake.
btw- I use Waze on trips and works pretty well

i have been using V1 for 20 years. I am addicted to the arrows. I am however seriously considering the R7. Any thoughts on making the change from V1 to R7?

I don't think "L" is max....but, I would have to look. I only use mine when I am on a trip, and have never dialed its sensitivity back. There may also be different settings depending on the generation of V1. I would probably just get the documentation for your model from Valentines web site.

I've had my V1 for 19 years and love every thing about it. It's due for an update to get the latest bells and whistles at some point.
I've only gotten 2 tickets when using the V1 and it was truly my fault for not being self aware.

I have had my V 1 for same amount of time. I remember when the guy left Escort and started his own company. Prior to that I had the Escort which a large Metallic Brick that I Velcro ‘d to my dash. Saab 900 turbo. 1980s
