"Real" turbo? It seems you are not a fan of manuals either.

I went .1 to .2 along with model upgrade. No regrets even with the $50k diff. My .1 S had the stumble in auto mode, so I drove a lot in sport manual. Lots of small improvements (pdk paddle travel and engagement much better for example) in the .2 and I like the turbos. No stumble either. I had a couple days of worry about the 992 until I saw the pics. I am just not into it at the moment, so the .2 ended up being a great choice for me.

Obviously how you spend your money is up to you but personally I like the turbo sixes more than the NA engines. Unless you are below 3k rpms, it is hard for me to tell that my 2018 C4S is a turbo car. The engine revs pretty much like the older flat sixes and the power delivery feels very linear and very strong. The clutch is much lighter and the manual is a joy if you go that route. Porsche IMO did a remarkable job with these new engines. The 992 I suspect will be even more responsive and I like the new instrument panel. Exterior aesthetics aside, it seems like a lovely car like every 911. If I had my spouse’s permission, I would trade every 4 years once the original warranty is up. Which may well happen.

.2 with powerkit is a beast
Not worried about the Delta..
I'm just trying to figure out if I'm willing to drop that money on a ..2 that's the same essentially as a .1 except for the powertrain.
And will I regret it because I'll want a 992.

Its more of a do I think its worth it issue.

I have driven both on the street.
Im trying to figure out the track driving.

Asking for feedback on "PERFORMANCE" is it monster difference?

The why question
Well my car is out of warranty, the .2 will not only have factory warranty left but option to purchase extended factory warranty.
The .2 can be upgraded so as I reach the cars limits - which I will , and I have with the .1 - I can expand its performance and become a better driver (safe track enviroment)
lastly... It would allow me to keep up with my friends with GT3's and Turbos... which yes, I do catch in the corners... but they got more power - EGO

But the 992... is all new... and I dont feel like I am buying the SAME car but paying more... hmm

Default track rat

I have not driven the .2 but from your comments its seems your car can not keep up with your buds. The .2 can be chipped because of the turbos voiding warranty but that sounds where you wanna go. If you have $$$ to track who cares about warranty.

Is the power kit only for S models? That would add a lot of torque which would really change the experience 991.1 to 991.2.....

Personally, I've been modding cars for two decades, so I am pretty much content with throwing the warranty out the window. The 991.2 S comes with the medium sized turbos, bigger than base, smaller than GTS. That said, with headers, high flow cats, exhaust, and a tune, the S will put out around 550hp and around 500tq. Which will absolutely destroy a 991.1 S.

Porsche factory X51 kit aka Powerkit is only for the S models - it does not work on the 911T - Already went down that road and asked a lot of questions.

I know you don't have interest in GT3's, BUT if you look at depreciation as the cost of owning the car the 991.1 GT3's and Turbo and Turbo S's are a really great value assuming you are ok with cars that have 20-30k miles on them. I have seen nice 991.1 GT3's for around 120k and Turbos are dropping to the 100's.

IMO if you're going to spend 20-30K + more for an upgrade just make it meaningful. and the Turbo S's and GT3's at those prices should hold their values for awhile while the 991.2's will probably loose quite a bit more before their depreciation curve flattens out.

I did a quick search on Autotrader several 25-30k mile 991.1 GT3's and Turbos around 100-115K, which seems inline with 2017 MY 991.2's.

Because of your advice, I have moved on to shopping Turbo's now. For not much more might as well look and see.. Feels like a way better deal than 991.2
I wasn't even looking at them in the porsche usa certified pre owned car locator because I thought they were much more than they are.
Going to need to test drive one too.

thanks!

I feel you here, my 991.1 C2S is a manual and I have been hesitant for a long time on never buying a flappy paddle sports car, but after driving Mclarens and GT3's and Turbos, I am starting to accept the inevitable.

Quick Reply: Is it worth it - 991.1S upgrade to 991.2S?
