Is it worth it - 991.1S upgrade to 991.2S?
I have a 2012 991.1S and found a CPO 2017 991.2S that has the same options plus -color too- (rear wheel steering) (PDLS, carplay, and sport mirrors as additional options over my 2012)
-Looking at two 2017's C 2S right now -
You can upgrade the 991.2S with X51 package (foolish to do go X51 on a 991.1)
991.2 has more hp and tq than the 991.1 and better upgrade-ability for around $6500 in parts (factory warranty too!)
My question for those that have made the jump... It is worth it? Is it worth $30,000?
Is it that much faster on the track!?
or should I just keep 991.1S two more years and get a CPO 992 that someone stored in a garage (lol).
-No - I do not have interest in a 718 Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3 - prices are nuts

Personally I like the 991.2 design wise better than the 992 at this point, the 992.2 might change my mind.
so for me, having the last version of the 991 would make more sense, and it's what I did :-)
the car will be more responsive around town in everyday driving, faster too. on the track well it all depends on the driver, prob not that significant.

I love my 991.2 GTS but I haven't driven a 992. I'm not so fond of 992's design yet but I'm sure I'll warm up to it eventually. To me, spending $30k to upgrade from a 991.1 wouldn't be worth it especially since the 992 is here. As ^^^ said, I'm going to venture to say that you'll want the next newest model before you know it. My .02.

I’m not sure the upgrade is worth another 30k out of pocket. The .2 has a lot going for it, but I am very pleased with my .1 S. I saw the 992 at the NYIAS, but not sure how I feel about it. I love the new interior and electric shaver shifter is odd, but better than my 2 foot tall PDK shifter. If I was you, wait for the 992 more to really hit the markets and then look for a CPOd .2.

I wouldn't personally unless you really like the new build over your's.
Now if the new car was a manual T, or a GTS with a manual, then I would feel differently. There was a night blue GTS I loved at the dealer before I bought my T but it was PDK.
For the 991.2, my list of personal favorites best to least are:
1) GT3 manual (very expensive high volume track toy)
2) Carrera T if a street car (what I own presently)
3) Carrera GTS (cool looking, fast, center locks, more turbo lag)
4) Carrera S (monkey in the middle. Nice car but not a stand out package)
5) Base Carrera (smooth, fast, comfortable, quiet)

My thought is that if you want a lot more torque and power, move to the .2 and mod it. If you're content with your current torque and power, stay with what you have.

Have you driven examples of the cars you are considering? If not, you should.

Have had a bunch of these cars and there are some I wish I kept but I have never been disappointed with moving to the next generation of 911's. The newest has always had improvements that made moving worthwhile.
991.2 by all inputs is an awesome car with greatly improved performance.
If the problematic cosmetics of the 992 show up in lower sales it will get tweaked to beauty. Wait for the first year cars to run their course before jumping in.
No bad choices all good cars including yours.

I on purposely bought the 991.1 instead of waiting another year or 2 for the .2 CPOs
just because I am not a fan of a turbo engine (if i want a REAL turbo, i did get the 911 turbo)
but that's just me, to each their own
