How many hours of labor does it take to replace the windshield of a 2013 991? My insurance wants to cover about an hour labor ($125), and the dealerships I've called all charge far more than that (I was told 3 hours). Why is there such a discrepancy? Or is the insurance company just trying to be cheap, and I should fight them to pay for 3 hours (and pay the labor differential out of pocket)?
Last time I checked dealers farm that out to approved 3rd party, someone correct me if I'm wrong?
But when I had a large crack from a dump truck spewing out chunks of rock debris, my insurance paid for most of the 2K plus cost as from what I remember, there is no cheaper approved windshield and they have to use OEM windshields. I only paid my deductible for accidental damage/vandalism $150. For my 2010 Panamera, I had Safelite do it for my Panny.

My windshield was done under warranty and the job was farmed out. It took them over one hour to remove all the necessary trim pieces and rear view mirror and set up time to cover/drape areas around the front to protect the paint and removal of the old glass, weather seal and clean up around the resting section for the windshield. Job is closer to three hours. One hour is a rush job.
1 hour seems way to low. In addition to what others have mentioned about the process, they also have to recalibrate any sensors that sit against the windshield (rain sensor, etc)
If you have glass coverage on your insurance policy they should pay all (labor & materials) less deductible.
Yes. See if you have glass coverage. Separate deductible.
Insurance will still try to get a third party to do it (which is fine as long as they use OEM glass) but if you have LCA, you will still need to go to the dealer for alignment and recalibration.
I had mine replaced through the dealer and I am glad because had to take back to replace the the rear view mirror several t8mes until it got it right. No concern or hassle what so ever since I had the reliability of the work done thought the dealer.
