Default PIWIS from China

I was wondering if anyone has tried or has experiences with these PIWIS tools. Looks like they somehow hack the OEM software and sell you the software that's pre-installed on a hard drive configured for a panasonic CF30 toughbook (about $80-$100 on ebay) or a tablet that you can pay $400 for.

Looks like it's good for cars up to the 991.1 and 981's.

I've played with the Chinese version. LOL @ support but for the price.... You also roll the dice with whatever version they last ripped off and no updates. For a 991, that's not a huge deal at this point given the age.

Yeah, it's going to be cracked software. May be fine, may be useless. I wasn't willing to roll the dice. Let us know how it goes if you do.

A member here has one that apparently works well, I have the equivalent for my MBs and that works well. I would say search for the member here and get a recommendation.

What’s the worst you’ll loose on this? $400? Sure nobody wants to even loose a dollar for no reason, but your risk seems reasonable for the potential upside...

My concern is that it would mess up something on my car. I think I would rather get a Durametric with less functionality but know that it is proven to work.

It won't do that on it's own but with the help of a human operator it could.

What is a reliable source for one of these? I was looking at purchasing a PIWIS II but couldn't find anybody that had actually ordered from the chinese vendors that appear on google. I suppose you'd be better off ordering from AliExpress with a credit card, that way you can do a chargeback if there's any issues.

Default PIWIS

Hi all,
Well I bit the bullet, and purchased a PIWIS II from OBD2Tool. All in cost was $900. Well guess what, it works just fine!! I was able to code my new Sport Design steering wheel in a matter of minutes.
Coding is needed in order to enable the neutral function with the paddles. The dealer wanted $200 to code it, and I just thought screw that.
I will play with it some more (PIWIS) in the next few days to see what else it can do.

Good man, thanks for sharing.

With all the costs the dealer wants to charge, you might as well buy your own tool and recode till your hearts content at will.

Would definitely love to know what other cool functions it can do. I know you can also enable/disable DRLs, lock door chime.

If it could permanently disable the auto-stop “feature” that alone might be worth it to me.

I can solve that for you with alot less pain.

This Japanese company makes the software override which all you have to do is plug into your OBD port to "activate" and your stop start will be permanently disabled. If you would like to reverse it when you sell the car, just plug it back into the OBD port and the feature will be re-enabled.

Caveat, it works and is registered with the car you plug the OBD port into. You can't buy 1 product and try to do it on multiple cars, won't work. Smart for them as it prevents people from buying once and sharing with their friends.

Plug Concept ISC - You can buy it from Amazon Japan. If you can't buy it and want it - Drop me a note, I will get it for you.
