I want to gather up the parts that are needed for an oil change as well as get what might be needed down the road. This will be an early oil change at 1300 miles.

I assume the oil filter screw cap is reusable. Does the 91x4mm Orin’s need to be changed occasionally? If yes, at what intervals?

Does the whole drain plug get removed and replaced or just the o ring?

I think I will get an extra filter housing cap just in case something goes south.

You don't need the filter housing cap unless you brutalize it when you pull it out. There are a number of threads here that outline everything. Check out Alex_C's thread (linked in my thread)

I could be wrong, but I think the oil filter kit comes with the $8.50 O ring you have listed above. Some one smarter than I can verify that for you.

 

yep, the filter come with a new oring for the housing.

plug can be used more than once ( in my opinion), but having an extra is a good idea.

I wouldn't bother having another filter housing.

 

You can remove the plug with a screwdriver, but if you want to re-use it, you might get the special Porsche-VW driver/key.
