Your story is another example of why a front and back high quality dash cam is in my very near future. Sorry to hear about your hit and run

in los angeles, ive had someone hit me from behind, damage similar to this. they ran and i got their plates, i called lapd to file a report. the cop told me, they can just deny it was them driving and you have no proof it was them. basically told me to kick rocks and call my own insurance company to get it fixed. i dont think a dash cam would do much either unless it actually records a clear picture of the driver.

With the new dash cams with 4k recording, buffer modes, parking modes and movement sensors that trigger the cam to start recording when it notices movement around the car so yes, it would capture a hit and run. There are multiple videos captures out there between hit and runs and popular Scam's of people being hit.

I wouldn't assume that is a simple repair until the bumper cover is off. Those holes in the cover didn't happen from a love tap. I got hit in the rear bumper, and the damage looked pretty minor. $13K later it didn't seem quite so minor, and it didn't involve the frame in any way, shape, or form. The whole repair other than bumper spray was just replacing parts.

Douche bags in parking lots have got me a couple times. Luckily, like yours, they were minimal and not worth the hassle of chasing someone down to (possibly) have them say they didn't realize they did it.

I had a guy sideswipe me out front my house one morning, while I'm sitting in my car with my daughter. He said it was my fault for being parked too far off the curb, then finally gave up his insurance information when i called the cops to avoid them coming to the scene, only to go file a false police report after saying we were both driving and it was 50/50. People never cease to amaze me with what they can conjure up when it helps them...

I would take it to a certified P body shop and have them price both repair and bumper cover replacement. If you repair it you will likely take a hit at resale even if it doesn’t show on the Car Fax.

Call Body Motion. https://www.bodymotion.com/
Visit the site you will see they know what they are doing and they know Porsches. Replace the bumper instead of repairing especially if there are holes as it looks.

I’ve had my T for 13 months and it’s suffered twice. Deliberate damage to rear bumper, probably with a knife of some kind. More recent ‘signature’ on my front wing while parked at a local supermarket. Luckily it doesn’t appear to have been a permanent marker, as I got 99% of it off with elbow grease, a quick detailer spray and a microfibre cloth. I haven’t gotten around to fixing the original damage yet...

Goog thing you didn't have your window down, they might have signed your visor or glovebox...

Indeed! I’m just glad they used a marker, and not a knife or key!

I'm very sorry. That's just hogwash. I fear this on a daily basis. I like your attitude... Twice would be enough to sell the car and go back to driving a grey/white/black generic people mover.

Also sorry to the OP. This is a sad thread.

I’m not giving in to the criminals.
