Rock chips under Suntek PPF

Rock chips under Suntek PPF
Hello All,
I just had my 991 full front end done with PPF. It is a 2017. My question is am I'm wrong to expect after the installation it should look new, even with paint correction and chip paint fill in? There are a few bubbles or white spots, what I'm told those are the spots that the paint chip was so deep the film shows the imperfection. Is this normal? If so, are there any remedies to minimize the imperfections without removing the film?
Thanks in advance.

Your guy should have filled the chips and leveled it out, Pretty unacceptable to me to spend that kind of money and see that kind of imperfections. At the very least he should have told you what to expect and charge you a bit more to fill the chips and level out so that it looks perfect. That way, no surprises. If my car, i would have been pissed.

If those are air bubbles I am seeing get it in the sun and see if they go away but if not your installer can make them go away. But if there are dimples under the PPF there is nothing you can other than remove it and start over, with a different installer.

Received a phone call late last night from the owner. He explained that what I'm seeing are water bubbles and should go away in a few weeks. Instructions were to leave in the sun for a few weeks. He did offer after a month to come back by to do a check up on it to see how it's doing. By no means I expected it to be perfect but a 70-80% improvement than before. Thanks all for your input. I've learned so much through this process and will be better equip on my next rodeo! Now I just play the waiting game.

Small chips are near impossible to fill/level. We call them “peppering” and if the rest of the hood/fenders are fine, we ALWAYS recommend repainting the front bumper.
a few chips here and there can be touched up and leveled, but if there’s more than a handful, they simply don’t look that great under the film.
as others have mentioned, just allow the film to heat cycle and cure, then see what you have.

I had similar with suntek on my SUV in a few spots. Brand new paint and corrected. Hate to say it but the spots stayed there even after curing...still there today. It think its from install error or junk under film. One tiny speck of dirt will cause a bubble. It is what it is after a day or so in hot sun...doubt you'll see improvement past that. They should remove and re-apply if you're not happy with it.

The installer certainly should have told you what to expect, however it is certainly not their job to fix chips before applying the film. Some installers do paint correction and detailing as well but many do not. Bottom line is a cheap repair such as filling chips is always going to be noticeable, repainting is only option for perfection...if that’s what you’re expecting. I find that many installers of many different things will not warn you of the negative side of things for fear of losing the job. I would rather lose the job up front then deal with an angry customer later who wasn’t told what to expect.
