Mike, thanks for your post, but I had a great and lengthy conversation with Josh from SOUL, and for right now, I am ordering the SOUL headers with high flow cats. I’m planning on having this orders and installed at Apex Autowerks in Clifton, NJ, per John’s recommendation. We are going to get some dyno runs on that day, and I look forward to posting the results and my feedback for everything. Hopefully I can have this all done soon.

It was a pleasure chatting with you. Always nice to meet local petrolheads, maybe I'll make the trip up for it

But, I like the sound of the high pitched raspiness of the exhaust, and want to enhance it. I don’t want to low tone, louder exhaust, but something that will add/enhance the high pitch. Is there an exhaust that can do this, or possibly just a set of headers w/cats? Any feedback is appreciated it. I’ve been researching this for some time, and don’t want to buy something I’ll regret.
Phil from Fabspeed here. There is some great advice on the forum here. The sport headers with 200 cell HJS catalytic convertors are a fantastic way to go. You can really emphasize some great sounds out of the headers on the 3.8 liter engine or through a few other additional bolt-on parts. All our Headers incorporate the highest quality components, from the HJS catalytic converters and investment cast merge collectors and flanges, to CNC mandrel tubing to provide you with precision made parts. The HJS German imported catalytic converters are made from some of the highest grade material you can find in a catalytic converter. This yields high performance gains and longevity so it won't deteriorate over time like lower grade catalytic converters. These catalytic converters flow up to 93-95% of a straight pipe in most applications. The benefit is that you get the "straight pipe sound" while still being able to provide enough emissions scrubbing to prevent a check engine light. You will receive a noticeable +15 HP (whp) and +27 TQ (ft/lbs) bump in power at 3000 rpm.

Being in business and working with Porsche for 25+ years we have built multiple different and exhausts for the sound that you are looking for. If you are looking for something different than that we have come up with a more aggressive valved exhaust. Fabspeed's Valvetronic Exhaust for the 991 Carrera vehicles saves 13 pounds from the vehicle and improves exhaust flow and power by replacing the factory headers, center muffler, side mufflers, and air box.

3300 RPM 3900 RPM 6200 RPM Peak
Fabspeed Exhaust 171.73 273.31 216.24 291.21 353.49 299.45 357.81 301.44
Factory Exhaust 154.56 245.98 192.76 259.58 332.14 281.36 346.96 286.93
TOTAL GAIN +17.17 whp +27.33 ft/lbs +23.48 whp +31.63 ft/lbs +21.35 whp +18.09 ft/lbs +10.85 whp +14.51 ft/lbs

Feel free to reach out to me so we can chat about the different options for your car and member pricing I look forward to talking with you!

Thanks for reaching out Phil. I enjoy seeing the vendors pop in to these forums and really reach out to users and potential customers. It’s very classy and much appreciated. I did consider Fabspeed headers, and they look great and seem to perform just as well. Just listening to both, I went with my preference. Not saying one is better than the other, just personal taste.

Damon, I am agreeing. The type of customer service they offer is top notch. I won’t get into details, but if I run into any issues, I’m not the least bit concerned. Plus I love the unique look of the piping.

Kline is sounding good to me in the vids. I am overwhelmed on options, but exhaust note to (my ear) via iPad - Kline sounds unique and different.

Still researching though.

I'm in agreement. I cant decide on what setup to go with on my 991.1C4S with PSE..Looking for more tone, pops, gargles, and some pickup, but NO DRONE...

Headers with Cats ?
Just Cats ?

All aftermarket systems have some degree of drone at certain rpm's. Anyone that tells you their system has NO drone isn't being honest.
That being said, I purchased the KLINE system and initially it had a drone that I could not live with. After speaking with KLINE and having them hear the same thing from a couple of other customers, they completely redesigned the exhaust to minimize the drone so that it is only audible around 2000-2500rpms. Above that it is drone free.

I also was in the same boat as many of you were. Trying to pick an exhaust from audio clips isnt easy and comparing is even more difficult. I am extremely happy with the KLINE system. It has just the right amount of sound, not too loud but, louder than stock. The only drawback would be that you MUST use their Cats. That wasn't a problem for me, but if you have cats you own or that you want to use you will be unable to with the KLINE.

In the end, I am not a believer that a 200 cell cat with HJS cores from one manufacturer will be any better or worse than one from another, so it was a non issue for me.
The good news about the cats with the KLINE, is that they designed it to be somewhat of a quick change system, so you can easily put on very restrictive cats for emission testing, 200 cell for everyday driving or straight pass through pipes for track use very easily.

The sound from KLINE to me was the best sounding and the pricing was on par with most of the high end stuff.

PTS-BRG. what change did Kline make in its system for you to eliminate the drone you where hearing from 2k-2.5k rpms? When you say quick change with the CATs, aren't they all just bolt on? is there a specific fix they did to this to make it much simpler? Kline is in my final top choices before I trigger buying an exhaust. Does Kline have built-in Helmholtz resonators in the system?

They changed something internally, I believe in the muffler section. Again, I am uncertain, but I think it had something to do with lengthening or shortening something within the muffler to change where the drone is and/or reduce the drone. It was a running change, all of their recent stuff (last 6 months or more) has the updated design. Only the very first dozen or so were the problem. They replaced mine completely after 1 week.

The design of the Porsche system differs from the KLINE system. KLINE redesigned the entire exhaust, so you cannot bolt on Cats from Cargraphics (for example). You need to see pictures of the factory exhaust compared to the KLINE exhaust and then you will see the way the cats mount is different from OEM. No idea about what a Helmholtz resonator even is..

After going online to Kline I think they do more packing material in the mufflers and redesigned the piping for the resonance factor. I think the one thing I like about Kline too is that they also replace the other mufflers the just the center muffler with an x-pipe. What was the length in time of install I take it yours uses the PSE button as well right?
