Default Rear pad maintenance with PTV?

So 4k miles on the clock and rears are 1/2 shot at 5mm. Fronts at 8mm. PTV and TC must eat them up.
Anyone replace just the pads (slap job) or must the rotors be replaced (or resurfaced)? I would suspect the contact would be less than ideal with the old rotors due to the scoring (even though thickness is within spec still). Just curious what other forum members do especially guys that track
Thanks

I don’t track my car, replaced the pads only and kept the discs as they are... no issues @ 100k miles

Sounds abnormal unless you are regularly tracking.. My c4s with PTV had plenty of pad left at 38,000. No track.

I drive rather spiritedly. Just some auto x but no track yet as i spent most summer breaking in. Plan to track this summer. These pads are already nearing unsafe for track use. I read someone on here smoked 1.5 sets of rear pads in 1 track day

I do 3-4 DE a year and drive pretty hard in the city and go through rear pads every 10-12k Miles. I will typically do 2 pads for every one set of rotors. I don't bother machining them, just straight pad replacement. My rears wear almost twice the speed as my fronts.

Wow, that is amazing considering that fronts do most of the braking.

It makes sense considering these cars find traction like MacGyver on any surface

Looks like the awd guys dont have as big of a problem with the rear brakes magically creating extra traction on curves

I think that PTV is just super active for folks that hoon their car around tight corners

I wonder who that clown was?

I have 18,000km on my car now. I track frequently. Car is highly modded. I think the mistake was that I left full nannies on. So now I press the PSM button and it goes to PSM SPORT.

The other reason I munched a brand new set of rear OEM pads in 3 x 20 minute sessions was that I had up graded the front pads to Pagid Yellow RSL29. (There were no rears in stock, and I had toasted the original rears and had to act) The rear couldn't keep up and just vaporised. Guys following me said everytime I hit the brakes plooms of grey dust was pouring from the back of my car.

Back to your question. So I used up the Original pads and a second set of rears, then I machined the rears and they looks brand new, and I put circo track pads in.
My BBK fronts have been in for a couple of weeks now and the rears are supposed to arrive today. Having 380mm Brembo GTS front and rear should change things. I am hoping the FM1000 compound can hold up on the track.
As i really don't like the squeal on the street, with Yellows. The extra cooling of the mass and more vanes and larger pads should all help. And I will remember to reduce PSM.

Good to know. I have been doing psm sport alot in the past months. More fun for sure. How much does it let you slip on track?
If there was a track pad that didnt squeal on the street I would be all over it.

I guess its like MDM mode on BMW M4. If you have correct steering in put then it will let you have some fun, but it is still there with a safety net.

Yes, I continue to search for the ultimate, no compromise pad. I put BremboGT 405mm Front and 390mm rear on my M4 and the pads held up very well.
So I am going to give the BremboGTS a shot. If its just changing pads a little more frequently I will do that. I don't like my car pulling up to the lights sounding like a city council bus.
