Thoughts - 991.2 GTS or 992S
I'm a long time 911 driver currently enjoying a 2018 Carrera manual. Typical for me, I'm already thinking about my next Porsche. While I'm sure the new 992 is a significant improvement in all driving respects, I really don't like it's looks at all. So, I'm seriously thinking about ordering a Carrera 4GTS, built the way I like it, while I still can.
I remember having the same issue when the 996 came out and I had a 993 - loved the way the new car drove but hated the looks. In the end I bought the 996 and grew to love it because it was a such a huge improvement over the 993.
I'm going back and forth on this in my head. I know it would be a dumb economic decision to get the GTS - but I love the look, drive, and feel of that car. And it's already way more car than my skills can handle.
Love to hear your thoughts.

2014-16 GT3, 10 year 120k engine warranty and is just way better than the base cars in every way (IMO). I could even see daily driving it if I had to. Worth every penny and would cost less than a 992 and in the same price range as a 991.2 GTS. No manual though...but the PDK is amazing and the gearing in the GT3 is totally different, feels very different than PDK on a base car/S/GTS

My initial thoughts are: 1. if keeping stock, 992 2. if doing power mods, 991.2

Also depends if you like the new dash. While the Center tach is analogue looking, having a hard time with the rest of the digital (in addition to the other stuff). For some reason I’m fine with it in a Panamara but just doesn’t sit right in a 911.
In the end, they are all great and likely all will still give you a smile on your face when you drive it. Often we are guilty of overthinking. Just buy what you like and enjoy it!

I had a similar situation before with 997 and 991.1, which I think is probably a better comparison with 993 vs 996. It really depends on the timing. It's hard to argue not to grow into a newer model if given longer time. I thought the 991 was too refined in the beginning, but over 2 years of shopping, I really couldn't go back to 997. If I am in the market I would still stick with the 991.2 GTS until the next GTS comes up.

Tottally agree, I think it will grow on us but there are some details I cannot digest yet....I will stay with a 991.2 GTS up to see if the new GTS will look better at least from outside....
991 design is one of the best in Porsche history from my point of view.

991.2 4 GTS is such a great car. The car just keeps on pulling. On wettish Nürburgring track, the car just hunkered down and got the job done. The GTS is a great package for most people. Window for ordering a new one has likely passed though.

It’s hard for us to tell how the car performance and looks. These thing need to be seen and driven to appreciate. If your heart fix on 991.2GTS then you should go ahead. None of us have a chance to test drive the new 992 yet, we can’t persuade you without prior knowledge.

You answered your own question when you said "I really don't like it's looks at all." in regards to the 992, and it is not a "significant" improvements. And what is the first thing that attracts most of us to a car? The way it looks. The 991.2 GTS is a great car all around and if you order one now the way you want do it now while you still have time. My dealer told me that when the 992 was released the requests for 991.2s spiked so you are not alone.
