Moot now that OP went with the GTS but I made a similar choice based on the digital dash and lack of manual transmission (currently at least). Really like having analog gauges in the classic 911 circular 5-part display. I actually do like the 992 exterior though.

I could not find a GTS with all the options I wanted at a price I liked, so I bought a totally loaded special edition C2S at a great price and added the X51 PowerKit on sale. It's everything that I wanted in a GTS for a lot less money. Albeit it is slightly narrower (which is hard to see) and lacks the Alcantara (which I never liked). To each his own...
Porsche is not making any bad cars nowadays, so get what u like and enjoy.

are GT-3 Tourings still available for ordering? I see that the OP has ordered a 4 GTS (congratulations, i have same and you are going to absolutely love it) but if there was one 911 i would trade my GTS would be for a GT-3 Touring. GT-3's NA motor sans wings. perfect IMO

I'm late to the party here, but I would have voted for the GTS as well, being the proud owner of a 2017 C4GTS. In any case, I notice that Porsche claims the 0-60 time of the 992 C4S is faster than the 991.2 C4GTS (in each case with the PDK). A few folks on this thread also stated the view that the 992 will be faster than the GTS. I am puzzled by this as the GTS has marginally more HP (at least as rated by Porsche) and significantly more torque and is at least 100 lbs lighter. With all of this, how is the 992 faster?

In that case, I expect the 992 C4S would get an excellent view of my GTS tail lights at the end of the 1/4 ;-)

991.2 GTSs have already been modded well past Turbo S power. Don't expect any significant power mods to come out for the 992 for a couple years. The other big question is if the ECU can be cracked.

Im so glad I got a 19 911 GTS before they were gone. I am just not a fan of the 992 at all. That dash looks funny to me and the glass interior is just wrong. The shifter thing looks silly to me too. And the rear of the 992 just has no separation from window, to rear vent to bumper. The wider exhaust ports. Its just doesn't do it for me. To each their own though.

Well its same old discussion, but I’ll had my 2 cents in case it helps someone.

I wouldn’t buy a first year 992 for reliability reasons. Reworked engine, new platform, new transmission, new interior...its all new design and I’m sure there will be quirks.

Comparing a GTS car to newer gen 992 S is not completely fair too. 992 has some more standard features, but GTS would still have more stuff.

Oh and the 992 is significantly more expensive and unlikey to be discounted. Money not a concern? Well you’re probably leasing a new car every 2 years so just keep doing that.

If someone wants to buy a 911 today, I’d recommend a CPO 2015/16 991.1 or 2017 991.2. Loaded S, GTS, or T preferably...lots of options that you get for free after depreciation smack down. Less depreciation, long warranty, and you know what you’re getting up front instead of being Porsche new car QA.

I personally think the .2 gen feels significantly faster and more agile (rear steering etc) than the .1, which sounds better. I know 0-60 times are stupid, but my loaded PDK C4S clocks in near 3 seconds very consistently...that’s impressive even with electric car standards. Coming from a 981 boxster, 991.1 felt like a big GT car not so agile (was my number 1 complaint years ago), but .2 gen feels more agile than the boxster...might be different if you compare to a less loaded base carerra. I’m sure 992 will be fast, but perhaps it wont exceed specs like these 991.2 models do.

I have seen 992 in person and it’s actually not that bad. It does look better in person. The door handles are really annoying...you cant get access and go or for them to pop out consistently. Also it’s wierd that the side digital instrument clusters blocked by steering wheel. Im surprised Porsche made these seemingly poor design decisions.

991 has a nice ‘female’ ****...rear quarter probably best angle of the car. 992 is more manly ‘terminator’ and not really in a bad way. You pick what you like I guess. I kinda like the 992 front in person...looks classic and more high tech/retro...makes 991 look dated or classic (not in a bad way). Sides look similar, but the larger rear wheels on 992 and fender gaps seemed off to me...also cabin seems bigger somehow.

I agree the 991.2 all day for the following reasons: I love the gear lever in the 991.2 and hate the shaver in the 992, I much prefer the analog dashboard in the 991.2 as im old fashoned, the difference in power is minimal and the 992 has turbo lag

I personally don't like buying the 1st version of new generation vehicles as the previous poster mentioned, Potential reliability issues with a lot of new things in it.

But the biggest thing why I just at this point like the 992 is that hideous 3rd brake light strip in the back ( reminds me of that eyesore look that a dodge charger has at night with those ugly tail lights. plus that electric shaver looking excuse for a gear shifter. Don't like the top half of the rear of the car, but I do like the lower rear bumper for that inspired gt2 look. Not liking the front fascia at all. Not sure if I'm feeling the Tesla type door handles.
