My dealer told me that when the 992 was released the requests for 991.2s spiked so you are not alone.
Have you driven the 992 at anything 5/10s and above? If so, you'd know your statement is not correct.

Tooling around town, neither the 991.2 or the 992 or any modern 911 will be all that different. Except for minor differences in UI.

I would go with the 992 all day long and twice on Sunday. Performance will match or exceed the 991.2 GTS plus will be better in about every way......ride, steering, handling, technology, PDK, sound insulation, audio and the list goes on. This is where my money will soon be going on my next order.

I'll play devil's advocate with my buddy, the good Doctor and counter. Here's why I would take a 991.2 GTS over a 992 all day long and thrice or more on Sunday: No nubbin, it has a cup holder (the 992's cup holder has been recalled due to a design error, leaving the car with a huge cubby hole front and center, near said nubbin - see adjacent cup holder thread), analogue gauges, it has a magnificent PDK (*****) gear shifter, better door handles, a more (to my eyes) cohesive front exterior (not a fan of the squared off hood), and I also prefer the 991.2 interior to the 992 interior. Am I the only one who thinks the new tachometer looks cheap when compared to the outgoing tachometer? I put my money where my mouth is - I just took delivery of a 991.2 (GT3T).

Congratulations! You bought a beautiful car that is out of my price point....but I will still hold my cards since I always like the newer generations of about any car, truck or SUV as a general rule. The only thing you raised my curiosity on is the cup holder..With that being said, a cup holder will not have any bearing on my purchase. Change always brings comments....some positive and some negative....but personally I like what pictures I have seen and what I have read. I will actually see a new 992 for the first time at my dealership tomorrow.....so we will see if I am chirping the same song😏

Thanks Doc! I do agree with you that the 992 will have the 991.2 GTS beat on 0-60 times, handling and tech. No doubt, it is a step forward in many departments. I hope you find the 992 to your liking. The cup holder issue was discussed in the 992 forum, if you are interested. Please report back with your thoughts on the 992!

I drove the new 992 4S a few rounds at the track last weekend, and was amazed of how good it handles. It felt quieter, tighter and smoother than my base 2017 C2. At first I didn't like the look, especially the rear part, but it has grown on me. I have also driven the 18, GTS, which I would say is close to the 992 I many ways. But I'm no expert. Just love theese cars!

Why did they leave the front fascia off and charge $3K plus to put it back on?

Regardless, the 991.2 is a great car and it looks much better, which matters the most. And there are many threads about this topic so I was just answering the OPs questions, which again he has already answered.

I had the same reaction to 992, not a fan of xbox dash layout, maybe nice in S class, not for a sports car, and also prefer 991.2 rear end, and finally when will we see a manual...seems to be zero visibility on that timeline. For all those reasons I jumped on 991.2 GTS built to my spec. That was in early Feb and allocations then were dry for a new build but managed to secure one (not easily). Car will be built next week, delivery late June. Suggest time is running out on a spec build, if not already over.

Stopped in to PECLA and they had a gentian blue 992 C4S on the floor. I studied it like my life depended on it - the security guard must have thought I was a complete nut. BUT, that clinched my decision. I just can't get past that big, plastic 3rd brake light in the middle of the grill. It looks even cheesier and cheaper to me in person then the pictures. Called my dealer and ordered a 991.2 C4GTS, black paint, red and black leather interior, manual. Build date is in early July so I won't get it till around late August/early September.
I'm happy.
Thanks for your thoughts.

if Porsche just add a $20 mesh to protect the radiators then 991.2 GTS would be a perfect. Why the hell did they skip the mesh grilles ?

Zunnsport or Rennline grills, which are being discussed in another thread right now.

Good call, IMO. Enjoy it!

It's a sign of age when it gets tougher to accept change. I know I'm there now. Perhaps I'll train my mind to like the 992 "RoboCop" someday. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I won't be holding the 992 anytime soon.
