Default Porsche Swap Meet Hershey PA April 20th?

If someone here is going and they can locate the silver airbag circular trim, which is on the 991.2 airbags (and other late model Porsches) I would greatly appreciate it. I have contacted every dismantler and parts place I could find online and none of them had it and since the trim ring is not a part that is sold by itself I would have to buy a replacement airbag just to get it (for about $1k!). If one can locate a blown or otherwise damaged airbag at the Swap Meet I assume you could buy the entire piece, if they did not want to sell just the trim ring, and I will pay you for it as well as the shipping. Below is a picture of exactly what I am looking for. Thanks in advance...

I'm going too. Taking the boys for a day while mom goes to the outlets. Who will spend more money?? (I think we know the answer).

What you could do it take out the airbag unit and spray plasti-dip on it. Think it would be a lot cheaper and a lot easier than trying to pry that ring off without damaging it.

I have had good results with plasti -dip. Maybe give it a try?

That is assuming the OP is changing the color? I read it as OP is trying to replace, not refinish. Otherwise, you might just buy a blown airbag that also has a chrome ring?

OP, are you trying to chrome-delete or are you replacing for some other reason?

I am debating whether to paint it Satin Black or Miami Blue and I know it will come off but I am afraid it will get damaged since it seems that it is press-fit in to where it may not be useable if I get it out. And I may not like the way it looks so I want a replacement. I thought it would be easy to find a blown or damaged airbag, especially since the ones with the silver trim ring can be found on several late model Porsches.

Many have replaced their steering wheels and removed and reinstalled their air bags. I don't recall any issues. Do a search on replacing steering wheels and you will see procedures. Ultimately up to you.

Is it easy to remove the ring and replace it?

I have had my airbag off, while replacing the 3 inserts with the Miami Blue ones...easy-peasy. I am just not fond of taking it off and plasti-dipping it. Besides, I am leaning toward Miami Blue. And I do not know about replacing the trim ring, as I said above. The 992 has a Black trim ring on its airbag but it is too early to tell if that airbag will fit the 991.2; however, even if it was I would rather not buy a new airbag just to get a Black trim ring.

Thanks, and for others that are going please keep an eye out for me as well. I am willing to spend about $100 or so for just the airbag trim ring but I suppose if someone finds one it will be on a blown/damaged airbag so it might cost a little more albeit I am not sure who would want one, other than me!

I doubt we will find it but I'll keep an eye on it too. Planning on being there by 9 or so after meeting up in New Freedom off I-83.

Thanks all. I have looked everywhere online so this is really my last chance, unless I can find a place that gets a late model wrecked Porsche. Again, the airbags are the same on several late model Porsches, not just the 991.2.

Easiest way is to wrap it. Cheap, quick, less intrusive and if you don't like you can always peel it off.
