BMC air filter

Makes a minor change in sound and performance on a 991.1. Minor.
I've got it on the 991.2. It went along with exhaust parts. Can't say it made a power change. If you truly know your car and it's sounds you will hear a slightly louder turbo spool at certain times.

I had a BMC filter installed when I had the cats replaced since the bumper had to be off anyways. The filter itself won’t give you any noticeable gains but it does provide “improved” airflow for future performance upgrades (ie. stage II tune).

I have the X51 PowerKit on my 991.2 C2S and have the catless pipes. Sound is awesome. Less than 6k miles so far. I will install the BMC at around 10k miles or so. Unless I get brave and install a COBB tune. I would want to install the BMC along with the COBB while the rear bumper is off.

Yes, a nuisance CEL, even with the extended mini-cats with extensions on the O2 sensors. The CEL can be reset, but comes on again upon stopping and restarting. Definitely the best sound a 3.0 TT can produce.
Re the BMC, anybody guess how much extra power it might produce on a 450 Hp without a tune? Any noticeable improvement in Turbos' spool up time?

Edit- Might just be GT3 RS...
Porsche uses BMC high flow air filters as standard equipment on GT3 RS models. For non "RS" models, this is a great upgrade! We now have two options available, choose from a standard BMC high flow filter, or the identical factory GT3 RS version with a Porsche stamp on the side.

With the size of the factory filter and the air required to make the low hp numbers of these cars, I just never buy into these filter gimmicks.
My previous "toy" was a my built Ram Cummins 4x4 that made 1050 WHP and 1700 WTQ with a compound turbo setup (64 over an S480) that made 75 lbs. of Boost from an air filter with less surface area than the filter in my Turbo S.
I think a clean factory filter is FINE for the low factory HP numbers these cars make compared to other extremely modded cars / trucks make.
Plus, if you don't clean / re-oil correctly, you could reduce filtration and risk engine contamination.
